It looks better than the first Up! concept, but I still can't say that it is anything to get too excited about.

Original air cooled did not like heat or cold. It was darn difficult to start one on the cold morning. On hot day one could count about 10 of them on autostrada from Rome to Naples. And it's not that far and even Cinqacentos did not overheat that often. Driving bug in the wind was like riding a wild bronco. Somehow I don't miss an engine between rear wheels.

CTS.. try one in a Canadian winter (at least the winters we got back then) -40, huge amounts of snow in Montreal, scraping the frost off the inside of the windows, because like all VW's then, the auxiliary heating unit lasted until precisely 1 second after the warranty expired. On the other hand, it had about the same amount of room inside with fridge, stove, sink, etc, as a new condo in downtown Toronto.

buenos, me and my buddy blew a cylinder in his coming home from the kern river a couple years ago, blew the cylinder trying to go 60 in a headwind on the 14 freeway.
both of us were broke after a week camping, we camped in downtown mojave for 2 days until my direct deposit went through, then we rented a uhaul with a trailer and brought it straight to his mechanic in placentia. 1 engine later the thing still kicks ass, they are extremely well b alanced when headed way offroad. love those things. the newest ones even have a portable shower option.

This is the best they can do with the original Up! concept. There was so much potential, this is kind of disappointing.

This little thing has something going on - it is cool. Still don't trust vee-dub reliability, though, but at that price the risk is not much.

I can actually see it selling here in the U.S. If it gets great gas mileage and drives reasonably well, I'll bet it'd be a hit.

nice design, amazing how little changes were necessary to make the kind of bland "Up!" Study from the IAA an interesting design... still an econobox, no matter what, but an interesting looking one at that.
if they build, price and market it right, it will be a hit
