Volkswagen to build Passat coupe in 2008

10/04/2005, 6:17 PM

By mkbhatia

Volkswagen will reportedly build a coupe version of its popular Passat model in 2008. The car is expected to be produced at the automaker’s plant in Emden, Germany, which has close to 10,000 workers. Before the car is given the final go-ahead, VW must pin down necessary “cost optimization” measures related to building the 2-door Passat. A final decision is expected by mid-October. An official announcement from Volkswagen is unlikely until much closer to the production date, however a coupe concept is possible at one of the many upcoming automotive trade shows. German newspaper Bild published a computer rendering of what the Passat coupe might look like.

Looks like a cross between a mercedes, bimmer headlights (also very audi), with a grille from a cadillac… and dna from allot of other manu’s. Doesn’t look like a passat progression at all!
interesting.
