It’s Friday, and the rumor-mill is in full swing with talk of an all-new model that may be coming to the U.S. thanks to the folks at Volkswagen.
The suggestion’s origin can be traced back to the Financial Times Deutschland via Times Free Press, which suggested an all-new, U.S.-specific SUV may be on the way that would be larger than the Tiguan, cheaper than the Touareg and offer three rows of seating.
The report, citing unnamed “industry sources,” also suggested that the SUV would arrive in 2015 and be built at the existing Chattanooga, Tennessee, factory, which currently produces the U.S.-market Passat sedan.
While no confirmation of this model has been secured, Jonathan Browning, chief executive at Volkswagen of America, suggested that such a model would make a nice fit in the U.S. lineup when asked about its possible existence.
