Volkswagen to offer Passat R GT kit

04/18/2006, 8:29 AM

By admin

Last year at SEMA, Volkswagen unveiled the Passat R GT Concept — an appearance kit that gives the sedan a “racy and aggressive” look. According to a published report today, Volkswagen plans to begin selling the kit as a $4500 option to Passat buyers. Current owners of the new Passat will also be able to upgrade their cars with the kit. The R GT package will include 18-inch titanium-colored wheels, Pirelli sports tires, oval-shaped tailpipes, and a body kit with color-contrasting elements. More images after the jump…

Don’t like the exhaust at all…

lets add another $4500 to a car thats already WAY overpriced… while at the same time not including any SUSPENSION or engine or interior enhancements

$4500 not very well spend – sheesh for that much you could go F/I *and* perhaps have a bit left for suspension work. Of course, it would still be on a Passat.. heh

Pics of the actual kit here http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=8291

And it does include suspension and installation, with wheels and a body kit for $4500 that is really not too bad. I think it looks pretty hot and after having driven a new Passat I think the car is a good value.

Strange that the new Golf R32 is so well done, and this Passat package is so tacky, especially the exhaust.

I agree w/ # 1, 2 and 6, we have a case of – Deutscheüberschüssigesreis.. ;)

The NY Autoshow car looks alot more tasteful while that white ‘ride’ is way to “reislich”, especially when you add $4500 to what Passats are going for to begin with.. Nicht gut.

if they actually tuned the engine the appearance kit might be worthy, but right now its a german ricer (or more likely a ‘Krauter’)

yeah looks tacky we need to “unpimp ze auto.” Also passat is supposed to be clean, crisp, and classy and the “racer” crap makes the driver look like he couldn’t decide what kind of look he wanted…
