Volkswagen denies report of US-made Buzz, Crozz models

\"We want to build MEB cars locally, but we have not confirmed which cars or the location,\" the company explained.

Volkswagen has denied the recent report claiming it will build the production variants of the I.D. Buzz and I.D. Crozz concepts (pictured) in the United States.

"[Volkswagen of North America boss] Hinrich Woebcken has stated many times that we want to build MEB cars locally, but we have not confirmed which cars or the location," a company spokesperson told Leftlane via email.

The original report -- which the spokesperson called speculation -- claimed Volkswagen would begin building both the Buzz and the Crozz in the United States. It added the company had plans to Americanize the two electric models (which will ride on the same basic platform) but it didn't provide details about the changes that would be made for our market.

It's too early to tell precisely where Volkswagen will build the electric cars it will sell in the United States. However, the spokesperson we talked to confirmed the first model that will go on sale here will be the Crozz, a name the firm likely won't retain for the production model.
