SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE VOLVO’S. EVEN IF THEY ARE OWNED BY FOMOCO. I THINK THE V8 IS COOL. VOLVO TUNER PARTS COULD MAKE FOR A NASTY S80R.

The V6 sounds like a bargain but when you consider the resale… a good starting price though. I wouldn’t mind one if I”m into big sedans.

Whoops, I forgot it was a FWD vehicle. They really should make the engine bay bigger though, RWD is King.

None of the Ford V8 motors can fit transverse style in a narrow engine bay like the S80 and XC90 have.

Is this the Yamaha-sourced V-8? Personally, I think it’s a strange idea to use that when Ford has its own V-8 engines.

I wouldn’t see this as a competitor to a MB or a BMW as those buyers are traditionally marquee driven.

If you look at their direct competitors, the Saab 9-5 2.3t for $35,115 or the Audi A6 V6 for $41,950 and V8 for $55,300, the S80 looks more and more appealing. Both are under the radar marquees versus the Big Guys (MB/BMW) but similar in size and target market and therefore it looks pretty understandable.

I like the vehicle from a quietly nice, understated mid-lux size of the E-Class for the price of the C-Class.

You can get AWD on the I6 model S80. The option will probably be a couple of grand or so.

$38k for the starting out in the I6 is definitely a fair price for a car that competes with the 5-series and E-Class. But unless you can get the AWD on the 6-cylinder model a lot of people won’t even consider it here in the Northeast for winter driving. If you have have to jump all the way to the $47k V8 just to get AWD, I think people will shop elsewhere.

I love it in pictures but when I saw it in person I have to say I was disappointed. Looked very small which I am sure is a design illusion but I don’t think it will help sales.

$47k was the high end. i think a lot of people will be buying the $38k version. You can get a decently equipped a BMW 3 series for the price, or buy a car that is much larger.

I think this is a nice price point for a car that competes with the MB Es and BMW 5s.

I agree with Brendino…for $47k+ I’d probably get a BMW 530xi or MB E350 4matic for only ~$3k more. Not quite as much power…but most likely a lot more luxurious overall.
