Volvo ’s new S80 luxury sedan — introduced last week — will include a new device called the Personal Car Communicator (PCC), according to the New Zealand Herald. A similar technology was first shown as a part of Volvo’s 2001 Safety Concept Car. The PCC features a three-stage alarm with a warning system that indicates if the car has been unlocked, if the alarm has been activated, and, most importantly, if someone else is inside the car. The latter feature works using a high-tech heartbeat sensor. The car will also feature a heads-up display projected on the windscreen, and, as previously reported, an automatic braking system that can help prevent imminent collisions.
