Although Volvo has already taken the wraps off its all-new 2011 S60 sedan, its future wagon counterpart, the V60, has just been spotted for the first time. The Volvo S60 sedan will make its official debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show, followed by the V60’s unveiling a few months later.
Photographed from over a half-mile away, visual cues on this wagon prototype are tough to make out. That said, the resemblance to the S60 is fairly easy to see on the front end of this test car.
Details are slim on the the new V60, but it can be safely assumed that turbocharging will play a significant role. Engine specs have yet to be fully revealed for the S60 sedan, but we do know that both a 2.0-liter 203 hp EcoBoost four-cylinder and a more powerful turbo-charged inline-sex good for 304 hp. All engines will be mated to either six-speed dual-clutch automatics or six-speed manuals.
Reportedly, plug-in hybrid vehicles are also being testing.
Watch for the V60’s likely debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show next September. Sales should kick off by the end of 2010, with a U.S. offering likely.

If it is going to be engineered by the Chinese, then its not worth being considered as a true contended in the Crossover market.

The S60 already looks likesomething out of China… Seems like Volvo is going down the same horrible road as B(angle)MW.

Um, guys, they are still owned by Ford, so why would the Chinese engineer anything on this model??? They haven;t been sold yet.
Oh, and even if this is sold in the next year – how is this any different than Tata owning/running Jaguar and Land Rover?

Brenda, how far away were you? Your Paparazzi telephoto lens just couldn’t cut it? Or did you just use your phone camera because your Canon broke? Sorry, but the quality on these pics is really bad compared to what you normally give us.
As far as the car goes, it still looks like a Volvo V60 to me. I like Volvo, but they do all look pretty plain. This is no exception. However, I’d definitely get one for my wife if I had the budget. She’d love one of these.

Your beloved iPHONE, PS3, XBOX, NOTEBOOK computer, ….etc are brain child of Western designed and Chinese manufacturing (built to certain quality standards.) If Volvo can be engineered and designed in the European studios while incorporate some Chinese parts to lower the cost …why not?? Think about it, if you can buy a Swedish designed Volvo at Hyndai price, will you still but the Santa Fe (even if some of the parts might had come from China?)
Besides, even if the Chinese company buy the brand, they aren’t going to change the name to some stupid/ offensive names that some of you had suggested.

The car already aiming at Chinese market. There is 0 visibility from those C-pillars. Which is perfect for China; inhabitants have 0 peripheral vision. Perfect fit (market placement)

Christ almighty there are some ignorant ass people in the world. This wagon doesn’t look half bad, and it fits with the design direction the company has been heading towards.
