gilby7,

I will pose that question to Volvo, and will hopefully get an answer. I'll post it here at that time.

Cheers

I'd love to have one, if it wasn't for the bad mileage they get. Question, and a dumb one at that: Why does Volvo pair up the heated seat buttons/switches/controls all the time? It seems like most other manufacturers give each front (and sometimes, rear) occupants a separate control, either on the console or door or seat or somewhere, not paired up on the dash like that. Just wondering.

Veda - I have had the new S80 for about a year, and have been happy with it so far. It is actually slightly smaller than last years model, which I heard was part of Volvo's eventual strategy to eliminate the S60. They will eventually end up with the S40, XC60, and the S80. My only problem with the car is that it is very low tech, and more focused on design. Coming from an Infiniti FX, the S80 is somewhat dull. But it has nice lines, and I like that there are not thousands of them on the road like the ubiquitous 5-series or E-class (nice cars, but very expensive, and almost cliches at this point).

Volvos are nice rides but they do appear to have some sort of fatal problems after 3 years or so. Like the flawed brakes of the old S40... I'm actually off to check out the S80 later tonight. Haven't sat in one even if I saw a few in Europe.

Looks like it already needs a refresh. I like it, station wagons are my thing, but I'd rather take the Volvo V50, just better looking in my opinion.

"reliability and depedibility reputation that Ford, I mean Volvo is known for.

LLN may be a bit too generous with it's 3.5 score on the interior. I've seen these cars, the interiors are a joke, cheap materials, sloppy build quality, it'll fall apart within a year. The seats remind me of the crappy lawn chairs that Ford uses in a POS Focus. They're not even up to the Standards set by the Chevy Cobalt, let alone a comparable Buick or Saturn. Pathetic pile of trash that could only come from those slimeballs in Europe.

Basically your typical Ford product = junk.

I just finished a year in the new S80, which has the same interior, and it looks like the day I drove it off the lot. Not a single problem with the car. So "need more oil" can stuff it up his biased brown-eye.

Disappointing, even before pointing the abysmal reliability and depedibility reputation that Ford, I mean Volvo is known for.
