‘Weird’ is relative. Anecdote…my girlyfriend thought the symbol in my Rabbit was a fox. I said it is a wolf…for Wolfsburg. How kool is that?

I live in Wolfsburg, working for Audi though. It’s mental, at a red light you will only see VWs. And yes, you get huge discounts, this city basically exists because of the factory and if you see a map, the factory is nearly as big as the rest of the city only divided by a canal. There are two huge VW signs overlooking the city, kind of the evil eye Lord-of-the-Rings style, you can see them everywhere, thus you won’t show up late for work.
Everything is sponsored by VW, from the soccer team to the public pools, to even a local club, which only opens once a month, craziest party you can imagine. Weirdest city I ever lived in!

how else should it be? Why do you think the Golf 5 is rated as the best-slling car in Germany,yet you rarely see any of them outside of Wolfsburg and area? (except for the Golf GTi and R32,which both cook rice faster than a hibachi can ever do^^)

I think an interesting question regarding this is that “Are European workers more loyal toward their companies?” Especially the union workers.

Or, is it simply that VW workers truly believe in the products that they build, unlike some of the Big3 workers?
