Dual-clutch transmissions may be the perfect compromise for the automatic vs. manual gearbox debate, but not all dual-clutch transmissions are built perfectly. Volkswagen has announced the recall of 13,500 DSG-equipped vehicles built between September 2008 and August 2009.
According to Volkswagen, the recall includes Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI and Eos models equipped with the company’s DSG dual-clutch transmission. The recall covers 2009 and some 2010 model year vehicles.

The recall is due to a potentially faulty temperature sensor in the DSG transmission. The faulty sensor could prompt a number of dashboard warning gauges to illuminate and, in rare cases, shift the transmission into neutral.

VW will inform owners of the affected vehicles of the recall in the coming weeks. VW dealers will inspect the vehicles and repair the problem at no charge.
