VWs fail in all sorts of interesting ways. I have a co-worker with a GTI that has a transmission which overheats and blows a fuse. I see Jettas, GLIs, GTIs and Bugs with black tailpipes and crusty bumpers all the time, motors giving up the ghost in just 3-5 years. Only the most blinded partisan can argue that they get by on “quality” and not just marketing hype.

Nissan recalls 360,000 Muranos because of the air intake duct that can disconnect leading to the increased probability of a crash, but this is normal for all of you. When VW recalls, it’s because of lack of reliability. You’re all f*cking retarded.

How is it only 25,000 vehicles if it was over a 3 year span? They only sold 25,000 Jetta 2.0’s? Side note- I wonder if the ownership “change” will affect VW quality for the better.

vw may not have the best reliability but they do have everything else. They are fun to drive, nice looking, the jetta for years has had the nicest interior in its class. I am still not an uberfan though.

Like I said b4, all they have goin 4 dem is german engineering n some good quality materials. Anymore slip-ups like dis, n dere’s gonna be some big problems 4 ‘em.

They need ta keep ish simple like the good ol’ vw’s; the rabbits the cabi’s, the golfs n gti’s; those was the good ol’ days. A big screwdriver, pliers n set of wrenches n u cud’ve fixed just about anything by urself, by hands!

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone…VW consistently ranks at the bottom of reliability studies. Although this is probably precautionary, a driveshaft disconnecting from the gear box can never be good.

This is not the first car ever to have a recall guys. I have seen numerous cars on this site with recalls left and right. I have had my GTI for a bit over 3 years and have had next to no issues. A few small nuances here and there but nothing that left me stranded or broke the bank.
I just hope this doesn’t affect my 06 GTI. We’ll see I guess.

It’s alright, i traded it in when the warranty was up and when it started puffing black smoke out of the tailpipe when i would start it. Which was the exact same thing my A4 1.8T did right before it cost me $6k to rebuild the engine and turbo.

I don’t know A4, it says 2.0T models, which doesn’t necessarily mean the GLI model. I guess you will find out in the mail.

I’m thinking my GTI is fine, since it’s built at a different factory in Wolfsburg.
