VW recalls 510 New Beetles

02/15/2008, 12:16 PM

By Drew Johnson

Volkswagen has announced the recall of 510 2008 model year New Beetle Triple White Special Edition sedans — a term that refers to the two-door hardtop New Beetle. The recall is due to the use of an incorrect adhesive to attach the roof spoiler to the rear glass of the vehicle.

The defective adhesive could cause the spoiler to come loose and fall off of the vehicle.

Although the defect could cause the spoiler to fly off and possible strike pedestrians and other vehicles, no injuries or accidents have been blamed on the defect.

VW also makes a convertible variation of the Triple White sedan, but it was not impacted by the recall.

The recall is slated to officially begin on February 29th.

Glue on spoiler sounds like trouble from the get go to me.
The convertible shold be named triple white flamer, really there is nothing more gay then a white on white convertible Beetle or Rabbit. They make a Miata seem as masculine as a Mack truck .

They’re soooo honest, recalling those 510 Beetles for the spoiler adhesive. VW really cares about they’re customers…………….Alright enough sarcasm, why don’t they recalled the ****TY coilpacks in those Passat and my Audi A4, that fail for no reason. Why dont they recall their BULL**** power steering system. THANKS VAG, YOUR ALWAYS ON THE BALL!

Read carefully since October of 2007 VW sold 510 New Bugz in US. What a run! A bit of math for you: if in 3 months 510 was sold in full year it will whooping 2040! I am laughing, but at this volume it will be rare classic in 30 years, just like 1978 AMC Pacer.

Not exactly a Toyota-level recall.
