The United Auto Workers union remains hell-bent on organizing at least one foreign-owned auto plant this year, but Volkswagen says it is not aware of any attempts to unionize its Chattanooga, Tennessee plant.

VW’s new Chattanooga plant has been rumored to be the target of the UAW’s unionizing efforts, but Don Jackson, president of VW’s Chattanooga plant, says he is not aware of any contact between the union and the plant’s employees.

“The team members will decide whether we have a union or not,” Jackson said. “I think we are doing quite well.”

Jackson added that he didn’t expect VW to allow the UAW access to the plant “unless the team members really wanted them to come in.”
