well the only good thing about the VW commercials is that the chick is funny and hot. And smashing things is always FUN…Other than that… this commercial is only funny for the people that enjoy making fun of that social class that PIMPS their ride…It wouldnt really change the mind of the people that pimp their ride to not do that and buy a vw straight out of the factory..(thats to conservative and dull (german))..And thats their target market – (scion, honda, toyota etc….) – for this type of car….Its like they are preaching to the choir….HEY WHITE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS ..BUY A VW…and you can indulge yourself in owning a PIMP ride without the negative (bigotted) stigmas of pimped rides…
If a car negates the potential for personal expression and individuality then most likely the demographic that yearns for that expression will look elsewhere when buying a car…..Like a scion ….where they can pimp their ride straight out of the factory….They got that one right..they are huge!!! ..The VW ads are funny but they still miss their mark!!!…seriously who would want to hang out with that lispy engineer dude….I would much rather roll down the street with snoop dog in a pimped ride than those stiff necks… You see germans dont have anything to offer interms of a HOT POP STYLE so they have to parody an aspect of americana that isnt going anywhere….

Did you see the next scene is when a car full of the demolished car dudes friends- taggers and gangbangers roll up jump out of the car and kick their asses and kidnap the woman…

Terry, you know the phrase “regardless of price”? One of the Prince Charles’ sons ‘cherry picked’ (chose based strictly on pleasure/enjoyment regardless of price) a Volkswagen Golf as his own personal car for himself to drive. (Some people would rather play than be a coach. Some people would rather drive than be a chauffer). Excellent choice, I have to say; live a little. Social classification/strata doesn’t neccesarily mean you are a good human being or a fun individual. A haughty person is just a stiff.
