Volkswagen unveiled its Passat CC four-door coupe during January’s Detroit International Auto Show, but VW has made some changes to the Passat CC since its unveiling. According to Volkswagen’s website, the Passat CC nameplate has been changed to the CC.
The name change is an apparent attempt to separate the CC from the lesser Passat and soon-to-be-released Phaeton.

The CC is scheduled to hit the market for the 2009 model year. When the CC arrives, it will be available with two engine options — a 2.0L turbo four diesel making 200 horsepower and a 3.6L gasoline V6 producing 300 horsepower.

The CC will be the first of a parade of models to use the four-door coupe first seen on the Mercedes-Benz CLS.
