VW to show minivan, plug-in hybrid versions of Up! concept

Volkswagen has announced that it will unveil a minivan and plug-in hybrid version of its Up! Concept. VW will show a minivan version of the Up! at the Tokyo Motor Show with a plug-in hybrid sedan variation making its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. VW announced last month that it would produce several variants of the recently unveiled Up! Concept.

According to Automotive News, VW will produce variants of the Up! specifically for sale in particular regions. No word has been given to which Up! variants the U.S. will receive.

I know this is a concept, but why is it that every car that is electric is designed to look odd, plain or futuristic. Why not design an electric car that looks like a car most people would want to own. Just a thought I had after looking at this goofy thing.
