The Worthersee GTI meet is fully underway in Worther Lake, Austria, and Volkswagen is continuing its reputation of show worthy reveals at the tuner event. VW has already taken the wraps off its Scirocco Nurburgring race car and the Audi TT clubsport quattro, but the German automaker also brought along a Passat R36 Variant Styling Study.
Based on the already potent Passat R36, the Styling Study takes up the car’s performance potential a notch. The R36’s 300 horsepower 3.6L V6 stays, but the new variation gets a upgraded exhaust system with larger outlets.
The R36 Styling Study rolls on 20 inch wheels borrowed from the Touareg R-Line and braking duties have been assigned to larger, six-piston Brembo units. All chrome trim has also been removed.
The R36′ interior has been modified with a pair of Recaro racing seats.
Although the Passat R36 Variant Styling Study likely won’t make production as its own model, it should be a fairly good indication of parts VW will make available for its Passat R36.

Awesome rims
Recaros… in a VW Wagon? Get real.
And yet we would never see this in America, too expensive
raineman, why not? these things are already hyperexpensive… the rs audis have them.
i would love to own that.
Keep talkin RaineMan and you will look stupider lol. I have a buddy who races with me on a mountain road called Big Basin ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Route_9_%28California%29 ) and I run the downhill he runs the uphill. Anyway he has a 2000 Integ with a damn grocery list of mods in it that can tear things up pretty hard and he has raced this Uphill against other cars at least 100 times and he has only lost once. The loss was to an Audi wagon, it was an RS6 Avant mind you but it just goes to show that wagons can be pretty damn fast.
Looks pretty nice. Too bad I would have to schedule it’s first warranty repair as soon as I sign the purchase agreement.
Don’t forget about your mandatory fire extinguisher purchase in case of dashboard fire, or maybe thats standard equipment these days
I believe it is the same motor as in Audi’s. Any Audi fan dreaming of uniqueness of platform, smell some exhaust out of this motor.
VWs are nice looking and are fun to drive. The only problem is that 1/2 the time you are taking them to the dealer for warranty repair. I’ve owned 2 and don’t plan on owning another. Plus their customer service doesn’t want to do anything extra to try to smooth things over.
Is this Audi mill in there?
