Volkswagen has unveiled two concepts headed to the 2009 Wörthersee meet. Appropriately named the Golf GTI Wörthersee 09 and Polo Wörthersee 09 concepts, the show cars add an aftermarket look to the popular European hatches.
The Golf GTI Wörthersee 09 is done up in a unique Firespark Metallic paint, with matchin accents on the show car’s 19-inch wheels and signature GTI front grille. The exterior of the GTI concept also features smoked LED taillights and rear graphics design.
Inside the GTI Wörthersee 09 sports aluminum tread plates, brushed aluminum and black high-gloss air vent surrounds, red-trimmed floor mats and unique two-tone nappa leather seats featuring Berry White leather piping.
The GTI Wörthersee 09’s engine bay remains unchanged, but a revised suspension and sports exhaust system promises to up the GTI’s sporty nature.
The Polo Wörthersee 09 concept is just as eye catching as its GTI counterpart, thanks to a bright Flash Red paint job, accented by twin black racing stripes. Black 18-inch “Budapest”-style wheels fill out the Polo’s wheel wells, aided by a lowered suspension. The black and red theme continues throughout the concept, with dark accent mirror caps, front grille and headlights.
The Polo Wörthersee 09’s interior is very similar to the GTI’s, right down to the nappa leather and aluminum accents.
The Polo Wörthersee 09 concept does with an 85 horsepower 1.4L, but a sports exhaust system should make the little hatch at least sound fast.
No word if VW has production plans for either concept, but we suspect at least a few details will show up on the options list.

Who cares if vw unveiled two wateva, the GOV’T is about to own gm. [I could keep this up all day]
No but serious who cares. Vw aint as hot (exciting) as it used to be. Their looks arent evolving enough, or too well, on most of their most important models, plus thier prices are too high. the only thing helpin dem right now is some good ol’ german engineering!

If you think that vw’s are overpriced, you should also think that every american car should have a price reflecting its actual worthiness, about 1/3rd of its asking price!!!!
Vw’s new cars are really stepping it up with design imo, especially with their interiors……..wish gm was…..not really……i don’t care about them

19″ wheels, powerful 1.4L 85 hp engine and sporty exhaust note. Not exactly build for adults.

I like the GTI’s wheels and great metallic red. The interior changes, though, are really nothing more than the seats – I hope I can find the pattern for those aftermarket and the wheels- I like! Those are the same floormats in my GTI I ordered through VW.
BTW wtf does Wörthersee mean?

I think its a huge meeting of people who have souped up VW’s somewhere in austria, so pretty much they round up every tool in europe into one place

@2telluthe truth – VWs may be expensive but they are not overpriced. You certainly get what you pay for. There is nothing like the GTI on the road.
@JakeK66 – Those wheels are BBS CM wheels, they can be had on tirerack.

@ atoms – why the hate? I love that people hate VW for being so successful. They are the number 1 car company in the world right now, sorry Toyota, and people couldn’t hate them more… i dont get it.

I said nothing about hate, nor should it be taken as I hate VW as a whole, in fact to rephrase that I don’t hate VW at all, don’t think I could any time soon pending what porsche does to them, and then if I do hate them I have a specific rear engined car company to blame for it

@ all of y’all who aint like wat I had ta say: I know wat om talkin bout wit vw. I’m a big fan of the late 80’s, early 90’s cabriolet, rabbit n golfs. However, there’s not that much people buying vw’s here…anymore…because the other choices they have here. Vw’s sport game should be respected [afterall it is well german engineered] along w/ the quality of their materials–there designs arent bad at all, but, their designs arent changin much either! I know they could do better than just sport variants! Like I said, “I know wat om talkin bout!’

@ 2telluthetruth – There are a lot of people buying VW’s here. Maybe not where you live but they are still selling quite well. I would say that the reason their designs aren’t changing much is because of the level of success that they are having. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
I know that the progression from MKV to MKVI may not be much but I would consider the MKVI to be a MKV.5. The current MKV has only been on the market for 4 model years. Look for a COMPLETELY redone model in 2011. I would argue that the progession from the MKIV to MKV was huge. Same is true with the other models except for the Bettle.
Just drive a VW ,any one but the Bettle, and you will know why they are number 1 or 2 in the world.

i believe Worthersee loosely translates to ‘Worthless’
“but a sports exhaust system should make the little hatch at least sound fast. “… yup, sounds pretty worthless
