Volkswagen of America recently announced it is bringing back its limited-edition Wolfsburg trim for the Jetta, this time with the range-topping 2.0 FSI Direct Injection turbocharged engine good for 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Last year, the Wolfsburg badge and associated equipment was applied to the 2.5 liter, base engine sedan, pictured.
As with past Wolfsburg Edition cars, the Jetta includes unique equipment and looks, including Wolfsburg-edition badges on the front quarter panels along with special 17-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seats, and a choice of Reflex Silver, Black, Salsa Red or Platinum Gray exterior colors.
VW plans on producing approximately 12,500 Wolfsburg Jetta 2.0Ts.
The Wolfsburg shares the standard safety features common to all Jettas, such as six standard airbags, a crash optimized front end, anti-intrusion side door beams, with two rear side airbags available as an option. Active safety features include a four-wheel anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Electronic Stabilization Program, and Anti-Slip Regulation. An electro-mechanical power steering system in the Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T also comes standard.
Prices for the Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T start at $20,875 with a six-speed manual transmission, and $21,950 if buyers opt for VW’s six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

I heard the wolfsburg edition VW’s are actually built in Germany. If this is true its a car worth looking into. I know German made VW’s in Europe are famed for their durability. Its the complete opposite here with our Mexican built VW’s

Volkswagen is messed up in the head.
For some reason the Wolfsburg name conjures up excitement, whereas the Jetta name conjures prissy-bitch daddy’s girls yacking away on their cellphones while driving and who will whine all year about how the Prada handbag they got for Christmas didn’t come with the Prada coin purse and pink iPod pouch because their boyfriend was too cheap to afford the extra credit limit on his Zales card and now they’re like totally embarassed because Monica’s boyfriend got her the iPod pouch and Britney’s boyfriend got her the coin purse and Lateesha’s daddy’s getting her an Eos so life just sux, you know, and did you hear about how Christina Aguilera now says it’s okay to sleep with a white guy? I’m like – “oh my gawwwwd did she really say that” and Lateesha said “hellooooooo, earth to Maiyaaaaaah – of course she did!” [insert fake annoying-bitch laughter here]

The 2.0 DFI-T is a decent engine, but the Jetta blows. Lost it’s way after MKIII.

planet drive,
current generations of Jettas are made in Mexico for the whole world. So, no, there aren’t any German Jettas anymore. Also, a friend of mine had German made ‘01 Passat and a Ford Taurus of the same vintage. I was trying to make a joke about Tauruses reliability, but he prowed me wrong by saying that Passat gave him way more trouble. End result? He kept Taurus and got rid of VW.

Wow, pretty good bargain. Diesel, leatherette, great rims, great safety equipment, but some stale options and as already stated, looks and performance. I would, however, choose it over a Corolla. Has anybody seen Mazda’s recent Corolla commercial? Reminds me of that.

I know two people one of which is a good friend of mine who have the last gen Jettas. One is a Wolfsburg Edition with a 5spd 1.8T and the other has the GLI 1.8T with 6spd. I like the GLI way more perosonally. Had an extra gear and was quicker than the Wolfsburg. Also has Recaro sport cloth seats that were very comfy. The Wolfsburg Edition is just a more glamorous “limited edition” Jetta. Get more bang for you buck and buy a GLI if you are going to buy a more upscale model Jetta.

The MKIII’s are garbage fletch, MKIV’s are great, and my MKV GLI is dynamically perfect. Its essentially an A4 for thousands less. Car and driver agrees, the GLI came in first in their “everyday heroes” comparo. If youre up in the air, im telling you get a GLI, its the best car ive ever owned.
