Chrysler will build the concept Challenger, but I'll bet GM won't build the concept Camaro.

yeah... if the mustang is back to selling in the hundreds of thousands, of course gm would be braindead not to build it...
not that there isnt other evidence pointing to gm being braindead...

Wow, some angry comments here. Jim the angry Lib, and Joeb the poor SOB. Relax guys. If no one wanted a muscle car, then the Mustang GT wouldn' be selling so well as Tim pointed out. As annoyed as I am with GM, I know they can return to greatness. This is their darkest hour, and I expect some serious overhauling. It happened with just about every major manufacturer out there at some point. The camaro is a start. Now to seal the deal, Wagoner has to leave to bring in someone with a "fresh" set of ideas. I wouldn't be surprised if Lutz takes over. He seems to have the energy to get things rolling. Unfortunately, I don't see an end to the Unions any time soon. So they best be churning out some more concepts of the Camaro caliber.

The need something to battle the stang. Seriously, I see almost as many mustangs as SUVs everyday. They need to however offer a nice V6 base model and of course the LS2 in the Z28. They will have to price it to compete with the stang or it will not go well.

They talked about cylinder deactivation on the LS2 for mpg. I think they can pull it off. I know I will trade in my 04 GTO when the z28 comes out.

If so mad at media, why the full-court PR press on 60 Minutes and Newsweek this week?

Camaro? Are you kidding? Maybe a small fraction of affluent, aging baby boomers might want one but any other demographic will not. A new muscle car that I can't afford the gas for and is a torture chamber for anyone in the back seat is just what I DON'T NEED or want. Come on GM get your head out of your history and do something NEW for once in your corporate lives. What a bunch of dinosaurs that deserve to die...

....."saying he was annoyed with how critical the media has been of GM, while refusing to acknowledge any progress made toward recovery."

Haaaaaaahaaaa. Maybe GM hired Andy Card because it's the same line of B.S. his old boss JorgeBush is saying about Iraq. As if 20,000 dead and severely wounded Americans is some sort of 'progress' over there. ....maybe to those who don't go themselves...or sent their children. Both Bush and Cheney could have had 'their' kids enlist if they believed their own B.S.

.....and as much as I like the "design" of the Camaro, they're doing nothing but bringing old farts like Lutz from the nursing home to re-till old ground. Bring some NEW people - make some Scion cars - look forward: not back.

Overpaid has-been hacks...

Good good. Though being a Chevrolet fan forever, and probably always will be. I'm hoping Chrysler realizes the same thing. I've got a nice big garage in my backyard waiting for a Challenger (amongst other cars :p )
