I agree, with the new X5 as well as the awesome 3 coupe BMW sales should skyrocket as the year closes out. As of this week I will be placing my order for the new X5 so there’s at least one sale for Nov. already.

well mini sales are down only because they stopped production for a cuople of months at plant oxford for a refit to build the 2007 mini

It could be the housing market slump & the strong Euro. No more pulling equity out out of the house and adding a bimmer in the driveway. Prices are up. It’s a tough nut to buy one outright or finance one.

Mini’s sales are down because a) production is down (plant closing in early August, etc) and b) they just unveiled the all-new 2007. Sales of just about any car take a dip in the months before a redesign. See the Infiniti G35, Acura MDX, or hell…the BMW X5.

And a lot of cars appeal to a young audience that can’t afford them. Porsche, Aston Martin, Ferrari…

Yeah, that’s it. Moron.

You have to put the numbers in context. August 2006 isn’t just out there on its own. What happened in 2005 (and 2004) can impact sales gains and losses. Supply issues or, as johnny detailed, new models waiting in the wings.

There’s the winding down of the E46 coupe and the ramping up of the E92. There’s the SUV situation, both the sinking feeling across the industry and the new models in the wings for BMW (refreshed X3, all-new X5). There’s the 7-Series getting its ass handed to it by the new Merc S-Class. Though its not feeling the pain anywhere near as bad as the Lexus LS (which has a new model coming, too…), Jag XJ, or Audi A8.

Runflats and iDrive have been a part of BMW for years. It’s not as though, in one month, everyone suddenly woke up to the fact.

The SUVs are all on que for a refresh, its there on the BMW USA website. Not to mention the 3 coupe. Considering new Mini, 3 coupe, 3 convertible, X5, X3 are all in the wings for launch, this August is no real surprise. 3 coupe is going to make a killing.
