You can't sell Jag without Land Rover as they are basicly the same company under the skin. No one wants Jaguar right now and ford does not want to sell Land Rover as they are some what profitable and have lots of new products on the horizon with positive sales growth for the past few years.

robert, first of all the name calling is really not needed. it really hurts my feelings. second. toyota's cruiser also sucks in a big uncreative, plastic, guzzling way, but at least they have other well built products. and you think ford is doing good things for producing 20mpg vehicle? you think that's good? my dad's old ass toyota pickup averaged 36 mpg on their last road trip. but i guess you're right 20 is pretty good for a supposedly high tech, leading edge vehicle. don't be such a know-it-all.

Also, 'getting rid of' Jag might just signal the demise of the brand. Not sure I would like to see that. kudos to Ford for at least keeping it alive if not category leading, all these years or it might have vanished already. IMHO.

Surprised to see Volvo as a low spot for Ford... A new S60 and V70 would be a welcome addition right now. And the new XC60 should be a big success as well.

Being in the market for a new truck, I would consider a Ford F250 (diesel) but their stickers (in my market), even with a $3k rebate are significantly higher than the Chevy (which I prefer) or Dodge. It would seem to me that if their truck sales were hurting in any real significant way that we would be seeing a little better pricing.
And, IMHO, Ford is poised to make a nice comeback as long as the economy in general stays healthy. F451 makes a nice point about investing.

Robert,

I give a lot credence to Ford as any and all decisions they currently make have to be as efficient and effective as possible with no error for second guessing. I am actually considering purchasing Ford stock as they can easily sell off divisions and concentrate on what they do best. Ford, also has a distinct advantage over GM at this point as Ford is no longer deluding itself of where they are at, and hence have a much clearer vision of where they need to go. I would also be happy to see Ford and GM join forces—if that's what it took—to team up for the home team, versus the standardized nonsense of Ford sucks or GM sucks. I don't care who makes what as long as they give the customer three things: 1) Purchase value 2) High Quality 3) Moderate to high resale value.

P.S.

Ditch Jaguar..... even the Lincoln MKR Concept looks better than the Jaguar concept, and if that fortells the future, the XF is not going to be the chart burner Ford thinks it will be....

So far, I have yet to see anything really "BOLD" come out of Ford, except for the concepts Lincoln MKR or the Ford Interceptor, but they don't count at all until they hit the showroom floor, and with Ford's history that probably won't happen anytime soon....

If they are smart they'll prove me wrong.....

The red ink continues to spill... ouch!

LLN must have listened to the haters of the Bold Moves episodes from Ford and has not posted a link to the latest one. This has to be one of the most exciting ones of things to come.

Wow... ignorance rains again. Leozug, GM and Ford's newest trucks are being released to improve their competitiveness in a segment that won't disappear and against Toyota which has introduced a unnecessarily large vehicle. Why are they doing that, do you think?

But, I suppose it's Toyota, so it's ok if their truck gets 11 mpgs. And it's ok that Honda and Nissan added truck products in the last two years while Ford and GM have been reducing their truck lines while simultaneously making them more fuel efficient than before.

Oh, but it could be you are referring to that Edge and the new GM crossovers which are rated well above 20 mpg combined EPA. It's a shame that they're coming out with efficient vehicles that people might actually buy. They're so selfish and ignorant of consumer demands (as the CUV market grows faster and the full-size truck market has stayed historically high). But it's ok for Toyota to release the FJ to the market that gets worse gas mileage than any of those vehicles, as well as increasing the size of the Rav4 significantly, again, hurting efficiency, despite what the EPA numbers say, because Toyota is perfect and I love them. They can do wrong. Detroit is so stupid.

Idiot.

By the way, F451, I agree that they have nothing to lose, and I think mortgaging the company wasn't a bad idea. At this point, I almost believe that Ford and GM need a technological leap of some type to get people back into the showrooms in the numbers that they need to be sustainable long term. I'm sure that Ford will level off and save itself a little time until 2012-2013, but I think Ford will need a game changing tech, possibly even greater than the Prius. There's a lot of mistrust and discontent, some very much warranted, some flamed unnecessarily and becoming a bit baseless, and they will probably need a real attraction to get people to return.

Man, Ford is taking a merciless pounding (not that some of it wasn't warranted), but in their current state Ford has nothing to lose. They have been hedging their bets to the nth degree, and it will either put them back in the game or sink them completely.

Thanks for the link BR... I can't believe Volvo is even considering dropping the S60, considering it still outsells the newer S40. And considering how important wagons are to the Volvo lineup, how is it Volvo sells 5 S60 sedans to every V70 wagon? And the XC70 outsells regular V70s by 2.5 to 1?? Weird..

XK sales are up 100 percent compared to last year but the XK is the lowest volume vehicle jag makes. They need to kill the X-type and just surrender that market to the germans and japanaese and then come out with a worth mid-sized sedan.
