The Swiss-made Weber Sportcars ‘faster one’ may not be much to look at, but its spec sheet is something that any auto enthusiast will love. Under that not-so-stylish but highly-aerodynamic carbon fiber body shell lie the makings of a vehicle that could very easily topple the world’s best from their perch atop the supercar throne.
The faster one tips the scales at just 2,420 pounds, a key component of its supercar status. Moreover, that weight is distributed evenly over the car’s chassis, achieving a perfect 50/50 weight balance.
Powering the light-weight car is a General Motors-sourced LS7 V8. Thanks to twin-superchargers and other engine work, the faster one puts out an impressive 900 horsepower and 774 lb-ft or torque — resulting in an impressive 2.7 pound per horsepower ratio.
That power is put to the ground via a Weber Sportcars designed all-wheel drive system that can send as much as 36 percent of the car’s power to the front wheels. Weber Sportcars also designed the faster one’s transmission, which is a six-speed sequential unit.
The end result is a car that can accelerate from 0-62 in just 2.7 seconds, 0-124 in 6.6 seconds and 0-186 in 16.2 seconds and has a top speed of over 248 mph. With that kind of speed on tap, the faster one also comes equipped with 12-piston calipers squeezing 15-inch ceramic disc brakes. A motorized rear wing also provides an air brake, a la the Bugatti Veyron. With a cost of 1.6 million Swiss francs, the faster one is also par with the Veyron’s sticker price.

and the clear lights belong on the IS300
other than that, cars seems bad ass- even if it does use pushrod technology

It’s not THAT bad to look at. And the IS300 didn’t invent clear lights, and this isn’t the only other car to use them. Same thing with the scissor doors.
Isn’t the LS7 the motor that GM said couldn’t take forced induction for the ZR1? Twin superchargers and 900hp sure sound good to me. Of course, if GM was right, and the engine blows up at 248 mph, you have a very bad day.

well when you use “sissor doors” what are they referred to as? oh that’s right LAMBO doors durrrrrr
IS300 didn’t invent them true, but they were the only car to use them and it worked, everyone else failed- Ford Fusion is a big crapper on this, the Mercury Models? don’t get me started and the new Sti looks like crap with the clear lights- even the after market flooded it with those lights- i bet you have these on your cavalier huh

Yeah, the grill looks awful. But it looks “nicer” with the paint scheme, lighting, and distance. Still one tof the ugliest cars in the last ten years.

You don’t make fun of anyone on the playground who can beat the living hell out of you.
Plus, I like it. History may not revere it as a beautiful car, but for now it looks significantly different from everything else on the market, and that’s quite a good selling feature.

Personally I think the highly stylized design of this car is nothing short of excellence. It clearly conveys a message of “I’m highly unique in more ways than one,” with its different yet obviously highly aerodynamic body shape (I am also sure the sound this thing puts out will let people know what is up). It strives to be everything that other cars are not while maintaining performance that would put most cars to shame. Even the engine layout is unique from most other cars; how many vehicles out there are twin supercharged? With low weight, a perfect weight balance, and a rear-biased AWD system, this thing promises to be a mighty competitor when the road becomes twisty as well.

jumpoffit- Fusions selling really well, I’m not all to sure what the big deal you just made over tail lights is about…
F3INT- True, I think a better way to put it though is “I’m more creative/original than you”.

It’s certainly original… I don’t care for the looks but damn it’s quick “0-62 in just 2.7 seconds, 0-124 in 6.6 seconds and 0-186 in 16.2 seconds and has a top speed of over 248 mph.”
Funny how all the of worlds fastest production cars/supercars have GM pushrods, but according to all the haters out there the pushrod design is outdated and lacks the techonolgical refinement that european and Japanese engine designs have… Two words… Bite Me!

Veyron.
Weight: 4200 lbs
Engine: An almost obscenely complicated W16 with Quad-turbos, intercoolers and more duct work than the GI tract of three cows. with an output of 989HP SAE or 1001HP European.
Performance: Stupid. 0-60 just under 3 sec top speed: confirmed 248mph theoretical is over 254mph
Looks: like something you’d be proud to be seen with or see in a museum after Gasoline is outlawed.
Weber (Faster One)
Weight: 2420lbs
Engine: The latest version of the winning CORVETTE engine. Compared to the VEYRON’s it is dirt simple. Has Twin SUPERCHARGERS (the first time I have ever heard of that in a production car) and about as much duct work as a healthy Human being. Output is about 900hp SAE.
Performance: Retarded. 0-62 in 2.7sec top speed: claims 248mph
Looks: I can only forgive one car at a time for being so ugly. The NISSAN GT-R took that card very early on (should have saved it). This car however two saving graces. One it’ll be hard to get photos of this car anyone will be willing to show. Two, as long as it is not coming at you, it really is rather pretty if strange looking.
On a damp track somewhere in Europe, The Veyron and the Weber settle on their marks. The drivers try not to look at each other for fear of showing disgust or seeing it. The Weber driver knows he has the uglier car by a mile.
The race starts with an explosion of grunt and power that almost visibly warps the pavement as both cars rip down the track. The Veyron is more advanced by lightyears but can not make up for the laws of physics as the lighter Weber, quickly negotiates the turns leaving the hyper sports car to watch the ugly ass of the Weber leave it behind. Only able to mitigate loses in the sweepers and the straights against the far lighter opponent, the Veyron finishes several second behind it’s ugly rival.
The driver of the Weber pulls over almost amused as he walks over to the Veyron and asks very politely, “Can I have my picture taken with your car instead?”

Oh Blakkar, liked the post, yeah the Weber is ugly as sin but man can it move. Also I thought the Koenisegg used a twin supercharged setup? One of the Swedish super car makers uses them that’s all i know.

Need4SSpeed (#18),
I did not realize that. It must be an update to the loadout. See the CCRX.
They used to be the usual twin turbo configuration. I know Superchargers actually make more power than turbos in cars, have no lag time, but place drag on the engine. The more boost the more drag the blower creates. The Mustang GT500 would likely be making up to 600hp if the supercharger didn’t make so much drag on the engine.
Superchargers are typically recommended on more powerful engines as they can easily generate the force to overcome the drag of a Supercharger. Turbos have less drag but relies on exhaust force and need to spool up before they are effective, thus the lag time. The Supercharger responds directly to engine speed and so has no lag.
This makes the second production car to have twin Superchargers. I can’t see it becoming common practice for less expensive cars but it sure is interesting. “HOT WHEELS” crazy stupid!
Now If SALEEN and SHELBY can lay the hammer down as well.

yeah blakkarr, that’s why everyone uses turbos more. Superchargers take power to make power, although I have one, it gets instant torgue, no turbo lag (although now-days it’s non existent on more cars thanks to better technology) it also uses a lot more gas then turbos do. I’d prefer a turbo personally, and my next ride will have one for sure in a year.
But yeah higher performing cars, basically V8’s or higher can get more use out of superchargers then lower displacment engines. I’ve seen twin superchargers on a Trailblazer SS that made about 600 ponies…
