I would suggest, “Buick Renaissance.” It’s a fairly obvious statement about Buick’s current situation. It also identifies a multi-talented vehicle, if properly executed, combining style (continuation of Enclave), athleticism (RWD), power (Cadillac V6 and V8), quality (traditional Buick trait), quiet, etc. Don’t pound me. This is my first post.

Come to think of it, Mike, you’re right…the Enclave was pretty awesome. I agree with DeLorenzo over at Autoenthusiast.com – Buick needs to whittle down to 3 attractive, well-built models. Roll them, Pontiac, Saturn, and GMC together with select models and you have all bases covered without stepping on each other’s feet.

If I could pin-point when GM lost their way, I would boil it down to the introduction of the 1966 Caprice – a luxury Chevy that clouded the reason for Olds and Buick….the immediate downside was evident again with the Nova/Phoenix/Omega/Skylark. Just no rhyme or reason except for greed…..

I’m throwing a good-bye Buick party…champagne etc. when GM final axes this vast wasteland of a marque. Old people don’t them either anymore, at least not the ones that are smart enough to realize that Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai kicking the crap out of the Buick nameplate.

Invicta is the perfect name. It has good heritage, good marketing cache and it’s a strong action-sounding name.
For the GM autocrats, if they recall their 1990’s mantra, car names that ended with the long “uh” sound like Corolla, Altima, Maxima, Cressida, etc..all were supposed to be successful by virtue of their names (not their engineering per say). That’s how GM forged the Lumina, Corsica, Beretta, Aurora, ad nausea…Invicta would satisfy the historians and the marketing guru’s, don’t you think ? Now we just have to hope they dont screw up the design. I vote for Invicta.

You guys are pretty pathetic. You acknowledge that Buick has potential, yet you just put it down any way possible. Buick’s goal is to compete with Lexus, and obviously you can rip on their previous faults, but the attempts are being made to change. Look at the Enclave. NO ONE here is mentioning the potential of that.

I remember having one of em old huge blue buick. My dad ram into a building supporting beam when the break line was loose. Didn’t even dent that car. hehe.

The Invicta name is actually a good choice, sounds good and has historical precedent, but Buick hardly needs another boring grandpa sedan. They need something exciting. Buick is a sleeper, They’ve made sport coupes like the GS stage 1 or the Boattail Riviera. They Got Toyota beat in JD Powers quality rating, and in foreign markets like China (that is not saturated with preconcieved bias against everything GM does) there is very strong demand and respect for the Buick brand. I’m absolutely no fan of GM for their 30 year run of terrible looking and terrible performing cars, but I can see they have a good opportunity with Buick, sadly its an opportunity I’m shure they’ll drop the ball on.
