What will Volkswagen name its Golf-based SUV?

03/14/2006, 9:16 AM

By admin

A Volkswagen spokesperson recently told Motor Trend magazine that the production version of the 2007 Golf-based SUV will definitely not use the “Marrakesh” name. The car will be based on the “Concept A” (shown right). Now, Germany’s AutoBild magazine is reporting that five possible names are currently under consideration. They are: Nanuk, Namib, Rockton, Samun, and Tiguan. Which should Volkswagen use?

i’d go with tiguan. it follows along with the “t” names that the toureg started. that’s the only sense i could make out of those word choices. im really not much of a fan of any of them.

my god! can volkswagen do any more to alienate its north american audience? only “rockton” has a marginally western-sounding name. at this rate, i’m gonna put my money on “saddam” or “osama.”
