Now if Toyota was indeed dealing with it, that would be one thing, but to have them blow it off too and not take responsibility, well thats just not acceptable. This is a $35,000 vehicle here, not a Hyndai Accent, this shouldn’t even be an issue to begin with.

I am not blowing it off. the TRE problem is a known problem, and has been for quite a while now. That is why any owner who has used their H2 for its intended purpose has adressed this on their own… and the aftermarket has as well.
and…ummm… the roofs are not coming off hummers. not sure why you would put that out there. that is like me talking about the LATCH system, which toyota dropped the ball on, but has nothing to do with the steering system or the vehicle affected by the steering system issue.

Actually that is not getting off track. that is EXACTLY THE POINT. This is not a ball joint problem as the article states. This is a an issue of the tie rod ends not being up to snuff. This is a known problem. The aftermarket has created multiple fantastic solutions.

I am getting a set from trail duty because I wheel mine pretty hard and don’t want that kind of problems on the trails….of course on a trail is not the same as doing 45 or more alot more damage with the increased speeds…..

you have no idea how many times I have had to point out the capital ‘M’ as opposed to the lowercase ‘m’ oh well.

yeah, the tre’s are failing on the street on occasion. At 45mph if you loose a tre, the tire shoots out, ripping apart the balljoint and ejecting the wheel. But hey, build a 3/4 ton weight vehicle on a 1/2 ton chassy (excluding several suspension bits) using 1/2 ton steering components, and 30 failures in hundreds of thousands of vehicles isn’t that bad!

You know what?These people are more like gang-stalkers than hippies.The quintessential ‘hippy’ is a super egghead bookworm intellectual type.Usually university educated.They take great pride in what they view as outsmarting anything and everyone who is not in line with their philosophy,and I mean NON-VIOLENTLY.I know many university professors who were hippies(and still are in their own minds)and actual American hippy kinds of people from Berkeley, California.They are ‘people persons’,and there is no way in hell they would resort to violence to further their cause.It totally repudiates their arguments.An ‘original’actual hippy would confront you and talk you to death,instead.If these gang stalkers are trying to emulate real hippies,they’ll have to read some books and develop their brains a whole lot more.Real hippies are very passive(non-violent).It’s like the Boomers were/are the cream,and the generations that followed JUST.GOT. Toyota may have its fair share of recalls, but jesus look at what those recalls are! They’re so small in their level of seriousness compared to the GM failures: corvetter roofs flying off, hummer wheels falling off, these are extremely serious faults, much more serious than the problems toyota is recalling its cars for.

Fact: hummer h2’s have shoddy product quality and terrible reliability.

Fact: hummer h2’s are built off of the chevy tahoe platform which itself is pretty chintzy and of poor quality

Fact: this helps prove how crappy GM is and how irresponsible they are as well, this kind of issue is NOT something to be ignored,and yet they are doing just that, shifting the blame to someone else.

Typical. That’s why GM is going in the ****ter.

nutter, you must have me confused with someone else on this site this is my first post….I oppose the willful destruction of peoples property….you can have an opinion, that is fine by me but when people start vandalizing vehicles because of the make that is crossing the line. I took my H2 to the dealer for service and the service advisor was telling me about a hummer that just came in for an inspection because the owner had a note on his car saying “welcome to hummer hell” they loosened all of his lug nuts…that is total bs and shows how many extremists there is out there want more proof go to fuh2.com. Let’s kill someone driving a H2 and others on the road by vandalizing it. these same fanatic’s talk about the hummers pollution, I live in the great northwest full of people driving old beaters that smoke like crazy burning oil and gas worse than a hummer…about a hummer’s size its shorter than most full sized SUV’s (excursion, suburban, escalade, ect) so how are they soo big don’t tell me that you have never seen dodge, ford, Chevy, Nissan pickups jacked way up in the air..There are more lifted trucks and Junkers here than there are hummers….oh I am sorry all those trucks come with 4 cylinders don’t they…..

I am amazed on the amount of ignorant people out there and how many of them have computers….a car is merely transportation. Some people choose to spend $500 and some choose to spend $50,000 it’s all about personal preference if you don’t like a certain car then don’t buy it…..I have had a variety of vehicles my current vehicle is a H2 before that I had a Mercedes ml320. Mercedes quality blows any gm out of the water but I liked the concept of the H2 so I bought it and got rid of the ml, I am a true car lover and would drive a different car every day of the week if I could….to all of you tree hugging hippies and total losers out there if you think that we should all drive the same type of car, then move to another country, join or start your own dictatorship otherwise shut up about hummers or any other car that you don’t like this is America where we have the choice and the right to drive what ever gas guzzling vehicle that we choose.
