German automaker Wiesmann has unveiled its latest Spyder concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The Spyder is described as the “most extreme Wiesmann ever built.”

With pure performance in mind, the two-seater arrives sans doors and front windscreen. Wiesmann says the “extremely downsized” Spyder has just one purpose — to provide a maximum of driving enjoyment.

Most of that driving enjoyment is delivered by the Spyder’s lack of weight — the concept tips the scales at less that 2,200 pounds. Combined with a 420 horsepower 4.0L V8, the Spyder delivers extreme performance, accelerating from 0-60 in under four seconds and continuing on to a top speed of 180mph.

Wiesmann doesn’t currently have any plans to produce the Spyder, but that could change based on reactions at the Geneva show.

“We want to test the marketability of such cars in Geneva,” Wiesmann general manager Friedhelm Wiesmann said. “The feedback of customers, partners and experts has high influence on the consideration of advancing the Spyder model.”

If the Spyder does receive the green light, it won’t go into production before 2012.
