Will the Bugatti Veyron Targa look like this?

08/03/2006, 5:39 PM

By admin

As previously reported, Bugatti is rumored to be working on a new $1.9 million version of its Veyron supercar. The new model is said to have a removable Targa roof. Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport has since put together an artist’s rendering of the vehicle. As suspected, the car has a completely open top, with no braces connecting the windscreen to the rear. They should make it a T-Top, put a Pheonix on the hood and then only sell it to people with mullets and big hair.

And why does making the roof removable bump the cost up but a half million dollars? Did they up the bhp?

Its more expensive because they had to make adjustments to compensate for the lack of a roof.
ie putting in more structural support and lighter components so that it doesnt get as heavy.
oh and i guess they figured if you can afford a veyron you can afford to pay an extra 600k for infinite head room.
id rather have a zonda, koenigsegg CCX, Murc, and an f430 for the same price.

In a 250 mph car, I’ll take my roof fixed.

I read somewhere that Bugatti will make a $60K Elise fighter. Anyone else read this?

Yeah Renton i heard it, but i doubt that it’ll happen. Bugatti has always been a snooty, high level car for only the richest of the rich.

Renton I believe that it was in Automobile magazine, but with Porsche now owning 20% or so of the VW group, I’m not sure they would produce a car to challenge those sales. Plus Dav makes a good point as well.

I know why its so much more expensive. The car is just a tech showcase that costs them 5 million to make, so they lose a lot of money on it. Since sales have been better than expected, why not jack up the price so they wont lose to much money? At 1.9 million they are hoping that there wont be a high demand for the car and their sales would be just right.
