Will the Porsche Panamera look like this?

12/06/2006, 5:13 PM

By admin

Based on recent spy photos of Porsche Panamera prototypes, Germany’s Autobild magazine has put together some new illustrations of how the finished car might look. Considerably less dramatic than the official teaser sketch of the car, these renderings make the Panamera look like a typical Porsche — somewhere between the 911 and Cayenne.

It’s unclear how far along Porsche is in the development process, so it’s difficult to say whether recent spy shots represent an actual prototype in camouflage, or a test mule assembled from mix of components. In late 2005, a Porsche spokesperson said the automaker would unveil a concept version of the car in spring 2007. The production car will arrive in showrooms for the 2009 model year. I agree…the Rapide is super sexy.

I’m not feeling this Panamera.

CLS looks great IMO. Hope the A5 looks better than this (which from the spy photos looks like a 911 with…an extra set of doors! boo)

I think it will look much more agressive than pictured. porsche knows how to make a sexy car.
plus there is more then enough room in the market for the rapide and the panamera

I thinj it looks great, nice and sleek and not too agressive, i mean, it’s a four door sedan, they probably aren’t going for that market, but i agree with above, Rapide is gorgeous

Do they have to make every car look like the 911-series?

They seem to have gotten slapped by the ‘failures’ of the 924/44 and 928… so every 911 cliche is here.

^ Another idiot comment,

The 924/944/968 series of cars saved Porsche from a financial crises back in the 80s-early 90s. Look it up, it’s a fact. If it weren’t for those models, Porsche might not be where they are today. So how are they failures? I used to own a ‘86 944. And to this day it is one of the BEST handling cars I’ve ever driven. It was a great car. So you might want to do alittle more research on things before you make stupid comments like that. Again, your username is a direct reflection of intelligence.

“The 944 was a huge success for Porsche throughout the 1980s, and was available in several forms throughout its evolution: 944, 944S, 944 Turbo, 944S2, and the 944 Turbo S”

“It was their biggest selling model and actually saved Porsche, the company from bankruptcy.”

I got use to an SUV Porsche, a sedan isn’t as drastic.

the idea of another front engined porsche coupe is why I embrace the panamera with wide open arms. the 4dr will give a perfect platform for a new coupe…

This looks a bit like a 350Z to me… anyone else?

Drawings don’t do cars justice. I wasn’t thrilled about the new 3 series Bimmer till I saw one in person. 911’s don’t look that great in pictures, but in person they have a ‘presence’ that supercedes a 2 dimensional picture or drawing.
What this car will definitely do is blow away the competition. 500hp twin turbo V8 speaks to me. Look out Mercedes.

I think Huckfeldt is really close on this one, especially the front and rear views.. but judging by the blue prototype, the rear door/window shape is somewhat off.. and I fear the illustration is a little better looking than the actual vehicle :(

The front doesn’t look stylish enough, makes it look like an SUV, as for the rear, I hope the artists that made these renderings are wrong….

this isn’t the exact image of what the panamera will look like so i wouldn’t be critisizing just yet, but i recon this could be a good competitor to the mercs and the beamers, Rapide is good, but how can you say no too a four door 500hp v8 stuttgart stallion.

I think it looks quite good although it can improve. I despise those rear view mirrors though. I hate it when they are mounted on stalk on the door. so i hope they put some 911 mirrors on there.

Hatchback sedans are way cool.
The Porsche 928 was a German Corvette, it was a wicked wicked car. A friend in high school had a 944 Turbo and it would whomp the Jesus out of just about anything.

Nice but it needs to be more distinguished by the cayman & pay some homage to the carrera gt.

MGBYG- It’s funny how people recognize cars. By grill, lights etc. Porsche found out the hard way that the 944/928/968 had difficulty in being recognized as Porsches because they did not have the classic 911 looks. Yes they sold well but to a lay person it was hard to see the family resemblance between a 944 and a 911. This is why the new crop of cars all share the Porsche-ess front end.

Personally I hated the idea of the Cayenne until it arrived and blew me away. I can’t wait to see this car in person.

This car is gonna kickass. Porsche is in a great position to release this car as it is the most disired brand at the moment whether some of you like it or not. And it will sell. I think this interpetation is a bit conservative and the actual car will look more agressive without overdoing it.

deantj,
if they don’t ‘pass up’ an S8, etc, for the Panamera, the Panamera owner will ‘pass’ them ‘up’!
Latest Road and Track says they are planning a version of the Carrera GT engine for the Panamera pushing something like 700hp!
Trust me. Porsche will do it right.

of course they will, once it’ll rip the s8’s and merc’s they will then compete with bentley’s and aston’s
