Oh, I'm still waiting to hear your proof that Japanese cars don't have safety recalls.
Please show me a link where I said that japanese dont have recalls ?
The point of this is that Japanese cars (Honda and Toyota) are better than Domestic offerings

Stumbled across this page when I was looking for reasons why Ricer cars are starting to fill our roads. GM needed a car overhaul years ago, but decided to spend money on other things like contract deals with Toyota, etc. Why do you think some of their compacts look like Toyotas? Strange how misinformed individuals on this page rant and rave, protecting their egos about ricer cars etc. And fighting back protecting the stupidity that some people put into their cars to make them look fast but can't even go 0-60 in 6 secs. without redlining their RPMs to catch up to that old domestic 4 speed. Also if anyone don't already know having more speeds or gears on a automatic transmission don't do anything to the speed of the car, except that the last few gears are only for feul economoy and the smoothness of the shifts before it goes into the overdrive mode. Domestic cars and most of the current models if not all standard domestic cars are 4 speed 3 speed being the norm and the 4th being the overdrive. As far as Japanese cars being safer who are you kidding? Even Chrysler minivans are safer than most of those japanese cars, except without all the electronics to make them more appealing. North American Invented the production line but Germany invented the automobile, so who's got better cars oh by the way engineering wise and not the gadgets that are prolific in all japanese cars, just to augement the bland looks of them.

Yeah… you're right pal you are dodging those links bc you would actually have to account for them and it kills your bs point
I never said that only GM has recalls but I will say that Honda hasnt injured anyone and Honda is a smaller company GM has the resources but they didnt and dont build a better car bc of idiots like you who just buy it because its patriotic
Untill people like you force domestics to make better cars Domestic companies will get away with building unsafe unreliable cars costing consumers MILLIONS and injuring and possibly killing people in the process
Im going to call you Arlon Spector the single GM theory

Yeah... you're right pal... only GM has recalls... the Japanese never ever have recalls! We all give up and give in to your complete BS - is that what you'd like?

You can provide all of the little links you like... because all you're doing is dodging other questions with them... I'm still waiting for you to take your ADD medication and actually respond to some of the questions I've already put out there.

But you don't because you don't have any answers for them... it's much easier for you to just pull another opinion out of your ass than it is to actually face the truth.

Yeah, it's hard to explain something to someone who has no concept of comprehension. Reliability is something that can be proven or disproven. Resale values and their relationship with Reliability cannot. That's because their only tie lies in the mind of the person with cash in hand. There is no ruling body that states "You must sell your Accord for anywhere between $6500 and $7000, and you're not allowed to spend any more or any less on that car, due to a reliability based regulation. Based on quality and reliability figures, this is the value of the car, and the price cannot deviate from that set value."

Now do you understand what we've been trying to tell you?

Oh, I'm still waiting to hear your proof that Japanese cars don't have safety recalls.

AMG off
Hmm well being that I have provided links to official sites like KBB and Nada Ive also sent links to the many GM recalls from the NHSTA and yet I provide no evidence ???
You havent been on for months and you have been out of it for a while
Its getting old hearing old patriotic assholes like yourself talking about how reliability and resale are opinions and have no bearing on a cars reliability
Why is it that Hondas and Toyotas last long are selling more ? WHy is it that Fords GM and Chrysler s are suffering ?
Hmm Isnt funny that the cars from Japan are worth more ?
I didnt see one link or anything backing your stmts up meanwhile I have sent link after link proving GMs unreliability . Yea GM is trying but they have a bad track record and their new cars arent proven and you are so desperate just like Commo jjacy and the other idiots to prove me wrong that it kills you that you cant
No one NO ONE has any real evidence showing that GM is a reliable safe car and better or even equal to the Japanese
All you have are poor attempts at insults and profanity bc you cant prove anything coutering what I sau
Either way AMG off or whoever You really need to stop whining and realize that the Japanese make a better car
It hurts but its true

Wow... just WOW... it has been months since I've been on this site and I can't believe that 1115-reasons-people-should-have-abortions is still here... and that he's still saying the SAME exact crap that he's been saying ever since he came to this site.

And I mean... the same exact lines... almost word for word... Except now he's getting downright pathetic. I hope everyone realizes he's nothing but a freaking troll who tries to get a rise out of people... because nobody can be that ignorant to reality.

It doesn't matter what anyone says to him... it doesn't matter what the actual facts of reality are... all he does is rebut facts with his own opinions and never has anything that can substantiate his opinions... I and many others have had these same arguments with him months ago, and he's literally saying the same BS.

The boy has problems... sad, pathetic problems... Just to highlight how delusional he is - just look at his last batch of BS.... Resale values are indicative of reliability? They are used in courts of law to show how long lasting a vehicle is? See.. right there... that more than shows the boy doesn't know a damn thing.

Guess what scooter... A court of law has nothing to do with, nor would it give two shits about deciding the durability of a vehicle... what kind of half-assed BS is that? Secondly... resale value to based solely on perceived worth and how much one is willing to pay for something... it serves as no indication of reliability. All one has to do is look at any number of sports/super cars or high-end luxury cars that have piss-poor reliability, yet somehow it has no effect on their resale.

I realized a long time ago that this little douche does this for kicks and nothing more... and that everyone sees him for the sad, pathetic, little joke that he is... he doesn't do this to educate people about the truth like he claims, because he doesn't have any concept about what the truth is... for one to be able to spread the truth, they have to be capable of learning...

Either way... 1115, if you read this... you really need to give this crap up - it's getting awfully old.

Think about it for a second. Resale value reflects what? How much people are willing to pay for something. How much BUYERS think a car is worth. Buyers don't regulate shit, and don't do long term vehicle reliability research. A book can say a car is worth $12,000 all day long, but if no one is willing to pay more than $4,000 grand for it, public perception has spoken.

Who's talking about GM's recalls? I thought this had something to do with you saying Japanese cars don't have safety recalls. Why don't you address that, rather than invent a new way to weasle out of whatever hole you dig with an unrelated tirade?

And please, stop sending me to other news items that you soil, just to read your shit. This topic will do.

Resale values reflect the cars reliability and is a reality It is used in courts of law and shows which cars last longer and have better build quality therfore are worth more
Public perception means absolutely nothing When you go to trade your car in or have a court case involving your car they dont rate the everyone on the streets perception of what your car is worth they rate the actual book value of your car
check out this thread with all the GM recalls If you want the other thread where I cited more please ask and I will provide
Thats how much I think of you

lol yeah Steve333 The Cobalt actually is supposed to get a re-fresh for 2009, as well. From what I know just an interior one, and I only heard about the crappy cup holders getting changed.... GM just needs to come out with a whole new replacement for the Cobalt.

Good to hear they are phasing out those old ass 4spd auto's and replacing them with 6 spd autos, everyone else has them.

Resale values reflect public perception only. There is absolutely ZERO relation between RV and reliability/quality. Nissan was a lame duck sitting in the red before Renault bought them and they started building cars that people want to drive again.

http://www.anapolschwartz.com/practices/air-bag-failure/blog/

Again, the Vibe is a Toyota, rebadged, just like the POS Chevy Spectrum from the 80's was a Corolla.

You're giving me links so I can read more of your bullshit? That's not useful, it's a replay of you spouting opinion yet again, with candour that would embarrass my three year old. The point of providing a link is to point out matters of fact written by people who actually have a sense of reality and spend time doing real research and journalism.

BTW, I never said one thing about you personally, so don't try talking about my mother. Making people angry won't help prove your point. It just serves to make you sound like a child. You really are the worst kind of Troll out there. One without a point or fact.

J.D. Power's VDS (Vehicle Dependability Study)is based on 90 days of ownership. That cant tell if a car will go the distance
. Also JD Powers is a pay for play site (ask your Impulsives mother about what that means)
Check the resale of a Buick vs a Lexus or the sales and you will see that the Lexus is better just like Toyota and Honda are better than all domestic cars
Show me a link about the Nissan and also look up who owns them its Renault which is a French company Toyota and Honda are 100 % japanese
THe Vibe Matrix is what Toyota gets for working with GM
Take a look at this thread bc Im not typing all this shit out again
http://www.leftlanenews.com/toyota-slowing-indiana-plant-production.html
You will see all the GM safety issues and recalls Including your precious Buick

"Just know that the Japanese cars are better than American cars and that is a proven fact based on resale reliability and build quality"

What decade are you living in, man? This isn't 1995. Try doing some research on J.D. Power's VDS (Vehicle Dependability Study) and see where the Domestics are on par with, and in some cases ahead of, the Japanese vehicles you so blindly tout rhetoric for. Buick and Lexus tied for first this year.

"Japanese cars are safer as well and dont have failing safety equipment like the Lambda's (all 18 of them) and the Cavalier Cobalt or whatever that POS is
Die in your POS american trash"

Japanese cars don't have failing safety equipment? Really? What about the recall on numerous Nissan's for an airbag fix, maybe two weeks ago, where if the battery gets run down the passenger airbags could fail to deploy altogether. Days before Ford had a similar recall, but their airbags were going off too forcefully. What would you rather? One that's more powerful than it was intended or one that doesn't work at all? Or Honda recalling all of their new Civics for 'Wheel Bearing Failure'. Or last week, when Toyota had to recall every Corolla, Matrix, and Vibe (don't even pretend that there are Pontiac parts on that car) made since 2003 due to bolt failure holding the front door glass in. Toyota loosing a class action suit over selling one of the poorest designed V6's we've seen in decades (Camry), not to mention their V8 Tundra's being recalled for possible 'Engine Replacement'.

It all depends on who's spin you want to eat today, and you're getting fat on Japan's.

Who said they liked Larry the Cable Guy? I hate him. All my cars are restored and worth more than your house. And last time I checked there were no trailer parks anywhere near here. You must be just throwing trailer park out there hoping to meet a neighbor of your's. Now go install your wing on your pos.

Well, this is the only thing I have left to say on this topic since 1115 has proven he doesn't even have a driver's license yet. When have you ever heard of someone saying, "Oh man, when I get my license, I want a toyota camry, or a honda accord, or a nissan sentra!" You haven't unless your a homo. Everyone says they want a Camaro, or a Mustang, or what sounds like the new Challenger. toyonda's are nothing but commuter cars and cookie cutter family cars. There are old American cars ALL over America that still run and drive. How many jap cars do you see that are older than 15 years old? I see alot in the junkyard.

When have you ever heard of someone saying, “Oh man, when I get my license, I want a toyota camry, or a honda accord, or a nissan sentra!” You haven’t unless your a homo. Everyone says they want a Camaro, or a Mustang, or what sounds like the new Challenger. toyonda’s are nothing but commuter cars and cookie cutter family cars. There are old American cars ALL over America that still run and drive. How many jap cars do you see that are older than 15 years old? I see alot in the junkyard.

trantz: “perhaps the domestic media will start supporting GM in 2009.” The media are supposed to be objective.

Commodore: There are some in the media, particularly at Edmunds,.com, who know what time it is.

“Gm should NOT be considered with the Japanese when shopping.”
Suit yourself!

HemiRoadRunner “What do you drive 1115?” It drives an accord and works as a fluffer.

“Just know that the Japanese cars are better than American cars and that is a proven fact.”
It can’t be proven true or false. Some Japanese cars are better than some American cars.

1115: you’ve owned a domestic?

HemiRoadRunner: A co-worker just bought a ’68 cougar, and another has an early-‘60s Buick.

“Why is there an entire movement devoted to japanese sports cars?” Even movies made about them ?
Because everyne (sic) wants them”

No. I want a GT-R, but it’d be quite a stretch to call those gay-ass rides in the fast and the furious “sports cars.”

Just
A
New
Idea
Tripleonefluffer’s
Openly
Retarded

FordTaurusForever: My cavalier had 190K on it when I wrecked it. That’s > twice what I got out of my civic. And my mom traded in a Camry for a Taurus.

400horseSS: “Ya'll sound like ho's fighting over the last tampon.” Funny!

187out: “As for Japanese quality, why did Toyota have the most recalls of any car company in 2007?” Japanese recalls don’t count, but 20 year-old GM recalls do.

“Why is there always more older running American cars on the road than older Japanese cars running?”
There’s the point there, 187out. That, to me, tells me what reliability is.

“Get you're head out of you're ass.” Was that directed at tripleonefluffer? Because if it doesn’t get its daily dose of HMA, it’ll be even bitchier!

{‘The older 60's american cars are rebuilt and do not have the original engines in them” Some probably don’t, but how many are we talking about? two percent? five percent? I

“Its (sic) fact that can be proven.” No, it can’t.

frylock350: “There are still LT1 powered Caprices in service with well over 300,000 miles on them and those cars are 12-14 years old.” Cops and taxi companies need tough vehicles. That’s why they’re not tooling around in you-know-whats.

“As far as reliability I have a 91 Caprice that I still drive with 165,000 on it … My first 2 gm cars had a combined 320K one was wrecked, the other traded in.

“The most common car I see from the early 90s still running on the highways is a Buick LeSabre.” Research will tell you that the Pontiac Grand Am is actually the longest lasting midsizer from the mid-‘80s/early-‘90s era.

A4: you’re right.

1115: “God bless the USA.” That’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever said.

To fan the flames...

1115 - Unless you are completely ignorant, you have to admit that GM is improving its line-up. They produced crap for a long time, but at least GM is starting to look past quarter profits and realizing that unless it starts making some higher quality cars, they're done for. Also, Toyota itself has admited that its been having some engineering problems lately due to its goal of beating out GM as the largest car producer.

Everyone else - Unless you are completely ignorant, you have to admit that a lot of those Japanese cars have been very reliable, and even fun in some cases (Prelude, Supra, 350z/g35 coupe etc). You will also have to admit that GM/ford does have a somewhat deserved reputation of building crap based on decades of producing...crap. I am well aware that at least GM is starting to turn itself around, but public sentiment can be rather unforgiving.

All of you should try to differentiate between fact and opinion. You're entitled to your opinions, but stop presenting them as facts.

And I really don't mean this to be insulting at all, but I do think the irony in someone named AmericanMade yelling at 1115 for being "SUPER BIASED" is hilarious.

again, murdered out, 1-2 mpgs is a big difference. If you have a big pickup truck, for a business, for construction, for contracting work, for hauling important shit around, 1-2 mpgs in a truck like that can be as much as a 20% increase in fuel economy. 20% isnt alot? get your head out of your ass.

As for the MPG difference, I thought I remember GM brass bragging about how much of an improvement the 6 speed tranny will make on the 4 cylinder Malibu. I haven't seen the numbers but I'm watching.

1115 you are a troll, and I like to feed trolls so here goes.

GM has certainly built some extremely reliable cars. I could mention that GM's trucks routinely outlast Toyota's trucks and cars, but a truck-to-car comparison isn't fair. Plus its also not fair that Toyota gives us the POS Tacoma and Tundra but gives the rest of the world the stellar Hilux. There are still LT1 powered Caprices in service with well over 300,000 miles on them and those cars are 12-14 years old.

You mean Japanese Sports Car. The 2JZ-GTE Supra is the only one worth talking about.

1115 you admit that you don't work on your own cars and there you aren't experiencing one of the most glaring shortcomings of Japanese cars (and Fords), they're absurdly messy and cluttered under the hood and needlessly difficult to work on. There's no room to work and its not laid out very well. I had to pull so much crap off my friend's Camry to change a water pump for him, including the timing chain. It was a 5-6 hour job. That same job would take me 20 minutes tops on a GM pickup truck and I wouldn't have to mess with anything other than the fan to do it.

As far as reliability I have a 91 Caprice that I still drive with 165,000 on it. Its been extremely reliable. There are far more American cars from the 80s still alive than Japanese cars, which have all disintegrated. The most common car I see from the early 90s still running on the highways is a Buick LeSabre.

As far as safety goes I'll put my Suburban up against anything. It's 6000lbs and I"m surrounded by crush zones and surrounded by airbags. Its the pinnacle of collision safety.

To everybody else:
2 MPG is a world of difference. My Suburban gets 2mpg better on the highway than my old Silvy did. It saves me about $20 a month in fuel costs. That's a difference. Each MPG counts when the numbers are so low. Yes I can afford the gas, but I'd prefer not to spend it if I can get a more efficient V8.

@murderedout,
The Buick GNX will outrun that Syclone with 21 year old technology. Gotta love the Buick V6.

Triple, if the Japanese sell more cars, then why is GM still #1?
**They are struggling to keep that position if they are. Can they sell the Malibu over the Camry Their trucks are their best sellers yet on the worst used cars list

As for Japanese quality, why did Toyota have the most recalls of any car company in 2007?
**Why has GM had more recalls than any other company for the last twenty years Yea Toyota had what one bad year of recalls but GM is consistently recalling vehicles Ill send you a thread link

Why is there always more older running American cars on the road than older Japanese cars running?
**The older 60's american cars are rebuilt and do not have the original engines in them If you watch any show they use crate engines and often have to do extensive body work Please stop acting as if they are all original parts lol If you dont know that I suggest you get a clue

You sound like an anti-American, hippie whos in his early 30's, still living with his parents, in a basement.
***Whether Im a hippie live in an apartment, basement on the street, Does it still change the fact that Japanese cars are longer lasting and have a better build quality and resale ? Personal attacks are fun but it doesnt change the fact at hand

I guess you're just another idiot who got roped into the "Japanese reliability hype" trap.
***Its not a trap GM made and makes crap and sold it under the guise of patriotism and you are obviously someone who fell for it. Its fact that can be proven and you are in denial

Anyone who's smart enough knows that, the anti-American media, is behind all the consumer reports, that are biased towards the Japanese.
***There is no anti American media If there was you would see the light and know that the Japanese build better cars Due to the bullshit "American dream" that everyone was sold Poeple still believe in GM and hate the Japanese Toyota especially
God thats was easy

It's so hilarious to me how this is a page about GM updating its product line (long overdue but I'm glad to see it happening), yet some of you children for some God-unknown reason decide to turn it into a 5th grade level argument about cars where facts apparently are things that haven't been invented yet. Some of you dipshits never cease to amaze me. Instead of bringing up car brands that don't need to do overhauls of their ENTIRE product line, how about commenting on the issue at hand? Or is that a bit too much for you to do at this stage in your pre-pubescent brains?
