An Arizona woman is facing $11,000 in fines and possible jail time after admitting to throwing away 69 unpaid speeding tickets. The tickets came mostly from speed cameras. Francesca Cisneros told detectives she thought it was perfectly fine to throw away the tickets mailed to her house. Five of the citations were criminal speeding violations. All the tickets were accumulated in just six months.

69 in 6 months, and the system didn’t do anything about this until now? Thats like 12 tickets a month, figure one every 2 and a half days. Whats really embarassing is that this took 6 months to come to criminal charges.

I dont think she is attractive, just dumb. Her picture is on a local newspaper website http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=71471
LeftLane linked to this story on a Toledo, OH ABC station website and not any of the Phoenix newspaper or TV websites. Odd.
All of the tickets occurred in an 8 mile stretch of road. Imagine how she must drive on the non-photo enforced roads.
She actually got 64 speeding tickets on a photo enforced portion of freeway, 5 more speeding tickets on surface streets and a red light running photo ticket in less than 5 months. One local report stated she lived 20+ miles away from where the tickets occurred but worked as a mortgage broker in the area of the tickets. Her excuse was she sped because she was always late for meetings.
On 15 occasions, she was clocked speeding twice in one day. She sped three times on two days, and was clocked speeding four times in a day on four occasions. This woman must have been dumb since those speed cameras are in fixed locations along 8 miles of freeway. All she would have to do was slow down for a few seconds as she passed each camera.

although that IS quite ridiculous… several states have ruled speed cameras to be unconstitutional. and there have been several studies showing that red light / speed cameras actually decrease safety in order to raise revenue.
so her throwing the tickets away isn’t entirely absurd. HOWEVER somehow i *highly* doubt her motivation behind her action was to mount a political protest against camera enforcement.

She may have had 69 tickets, but how many accidents has she had? I thnk accident experience is a much better indicator of driver safety than speeding tickets. Speed limits and camera ticket thresholds when set too low (as in the case with Arizonas 101- 76 in a 65), does nothing more than raise revenue. The issue is not this motorist and how dumb she is (which she appears to be), but of how we deal with speed, speed limits and highway safety. Photo radar should be banned from this country and worldwide.

But really, that many speeding tickets is insane man. It’s a wonder she didnt hit anyone. Shows how dumb some people are. Maybe if she managed her schedule better she wouldnt always be late.

I agree that her motivations were not so lofty as to test the legality of photo speed traps, but hopefully her case will bring this issue into public awareness and get these systems thrown out. If the public accepts these systems of automated, humanless law enforcement, I shudder to think what will be considered normal in 20 years.

Ignorance nor stupidity isn’t a valid excuse. She should pay the fines and have her license suspended permanently in lieu of jail time. Prison does nothing but cost the state money in these cases and that punishment doesn’t fit the crime anyway. Learning to take the bus is a more fitting tribute to her willful misconduct.

Her top speed was 86 mph that means all of her tickest were from 76 and 86, 80-90 mph is not that fast for cars now adays. This is fu*king redectlulass the speed limit should be 75 on that freeway anyways. Ban smoking in cars and that would improve safty more than lower speeds. People drive 80 all day long in say L.A. southern ca north cal. FLorda , Ow I dont know about 50 fing states. But this one will give you a feloney

Arizona used to be #1 in deaths from red light runners until they put red light cameras on the intersections. Deaths decreased by 60% within the first year of being installed. So the deterrent is proving to increase safety, not decrease safety as one person suggested.
Also, the freeway where she got tickets is fairly new. There were 8 deaths on that 7.2 miles of freeway in the first year it was opened with numerous people getting caught at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Since the cameras were put in speeds have decreased to 65-75 mph (75 still being 10 mph over the limit) and no deaths have occurred. Once again, the cameras have proved to increase everyone’s safety. Albeit they are a nuisance for us lead footers, but one that promotes safety.
The freeway cameras also have helped catch 4 car thieves as their photos were taken speeding away from stealing the cars. The police knew what direction they were headed, the license plate and what the thief looked like.
One person noted we should look at how many accidents she has been in. I think we need to look at how many accidents occur around her, not to her. With her speeding and swerving through traffic she could be causing a trail of accidents behind her.
I may not like the idea of cameras but they get these Jeff Gordon wannabes off the roads. Or in this girls case, Danica Patrick wannabe driving a honda civic.

So, you think that all speeding tickets are deserved? You think all speed limits should be set at 55 or 65 mph and they should lock you up if you don’t obey them? Lets put every speeder in jail and throw away the key. I hope that both “Dean” and 1c3d0g get nice big fat speeding tickets for your hypocrisy

Henry, not all speeders should be locked up & not all speeders are locked up. Repeat offenders and extreme offenders (25+ miles over the limit on 5 occasions) should see some jail time. It obvious speeding tickets didnt do anything to slow this girl down. Since sending her tickets doesnt seem to get through to this repeat offender some jail time is warranted. She obviously a danger to those around her with this disregard for anyone around her.
Theres a big difference with a couple tickets at 5 miles over the limit and 69 tickets – some including extrmeme speeds. 69 tickets & disregard for others safty = some jail time.
