World’s most powerful roadster? Brabus SV12 S Biturbo

08/01/2006, 10:01 AM

By admin

German tuner Brabus has unveiled the “SV12 S Biturbo Roadster” — a 730 horsepower car based on the Mercedes SL 600. Zero to 60 mph is accomplished in under 4.0 seconds, and 124 mph is reached in just 10.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 219 mph. The displacement of the twelve-cylinder three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a billet steel crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. The conversion also includes re-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with special camshafts. Foot-wide tires on wheels 17 or 20 inch wheels plant all the power at the rear. Up front, vented and cross-drilled 375×28-mm mega-size discs and 12-piston calipers keep the power under control. Inside, a custom Brabus interior rounds out the package. Gallery after the jump…

Lots of photoshopping going on here. No doubt this is a real car, but the “sparkle” on the front emblem is fake, as well as all the pictures with the 20″ wheels. They have no brakes.

Its crap! It will never beat the XLR! Everyone wants the XLR, no one wants the SL! Oh, wait…I’m not GM Number 1 forever (or whatever he / she / it calls itself)…

Very cool car, but I wonder how fast the new SL63 / SL65 will be…

Jon.

Ummm an XLR, even the V, doesn’t add up to this. And if you look at the sales of SLs (even in the US), they sell a ton more than XLRs. So that means #5, that no, everyone does not want the XLR, and no the SL isnt crap, especially not the V12S one here that would rock the socks off almost any other roadster, not to mention the puny XLR-V. The XlR-V can’t match up to the current SL55. That’s the second tier SL.

Anyways…how long till Lindsey Lohan crashes one?

I bet it’s awesome, but ‘m getting a little tired of this design, it’s time for MB to get this car on the drawing board again. Awesome power too but the article doesnt mention the fact that this car will probaby be close to 500k Euros after all is said and done.

#13; they have all had a touch of Photoshop ( nowadays everything on print probably is ), which doesn’t change the fact that this is one absolutely awesome car and I’ve definitely got room in my garage!!!

My mullet would look better in a Camaro than it would in this. And Bubbles, my 2 cent hooker would never ride in a Benz because there are no Cassette players that can play my “Achy Breaky Heart” Cass-single :( So I’d rather drive a Camaro

I agree with the poster who said that the SL needs to be taken back to the drawing board. All that power from the Brabus is nice of course! I mean it is taking a 4500 lb car to 60 in less than 4 seconds! That is amazing. Think what with more lightweight technology the car would achieve if Mercedes would take this car back to the drawing board and throw away that automatic tranny. The weight saving from that alone and the resulting increase in efficiency should shave off another 0.2-0.3 seconds!

Yea, its all well and good putting 700+ horsepower in a car.. but come on, make the car look as good as it goes, thats like putting 1000 horsepower in a bathtub.. the ideas funny, but my god how stupid eh?

I love the “sub 4 second” line. Doesn’t even the SL55 have a sub 4 second 0-60?

This thing must be earth shattering.

nah the SL55 is 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds. Motor Trend got on at 4.39, but thats the best time for one. The SL65 does 3.8 according to Car and Driver, but only 4.2 according to Merc. If you want more details, check out Velocityresource.com
They have an awesome 0-60 page.
