WSJ interview: Enclave concept identical to production model

GM has posted a video podcast of the Wall Street Journal’s interview with GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz at the North American International Auto Show about the design of the Buick Enclave concept vehicle. Lutz describes the “athletic” design as meant to “not look like a typical SUV.” He also said the car has “about the same roominess” as an Escalade or Tahoe. Most importantly, he noted that the sheetmetal and details of the concept are “exactly as in the production car.” Lutz said the Enclave is the furthest departure among GM’s new crossovers from the standard SUV in terms of appearance. He also said interior is one of the “nicest features” of the Enclave, unlike past GM interiors which were “always an afterthought.” He said much of the concept’s interior will remain in the production model, except for some wood elements, and the full-length center console. Download the video: Windows Internet Explorer or Other Browsers (PC and Mac). On Tuesday, GM posted the video of the WSJ’s interview with Lutz on the new Camaro concept.

no full length center console, no wood trim…
The suv will look like the interior was half built.
Where’s the finishing touch? Now you’ve done it again!
