An exotic car can easily raise your pulse rate, but one Austin, Texas resident is using high-dollar super cars to raise the spirits of local cancer patients.

Ken Adams, a 48-year old Lotus owner and genuine car guy, was diagnosed with Stage 3 head and neck cancer a few years ago. Adams moved forward with chemotherapy and radiation treatments, but that wasn't the most difficult part of his illness.

Instead of being concerned with his own situation, Adams noticed that some of his fellow cancer patients were forced to rely on the bus for transportation, often waiting for hours on end.

"When I was in treatment, I wanted to go home right away. People that rode the bus, they had to sit a while," Adams told Fox News. "Sometimes people were sitting waiting when I got there and still waiting when I would leave."

Adams decided to do something about the situation and founded Your Ride Is Here in 2010. The non-profit organization gives cancer patients rides to treatments, often in exotic cars.

The organization has grown to more than 200 volunteers, with those involved granted access to Adams' car collection. Many volunteers also use their own exotic cars. Even a local dealership has gotten involved and has loaned the program a Rolls-Royce and an Aston Martin.

The program has given over 400 rides in the last two years but, perhaps more importantly, has also raised countless spirits.

"We picked up one woman in an Aston Martin and all she could talk about was how fun it was," said Sonny Morgan, owner of John Eagle European. "There's a difference between getting picked up in that and going to a bus stop to get zapped."

Adams hopes that Your Ride Is Here will one day be a national organization.
