(Updated) Zagato’s new Ferrari 575 GTZ

(Updated again. Official gallery added.). Coachbuilder Zagato has released two images of the Ferrari 575 GTZ, based on the 575 Maranello. The car is being built for Yoshiyuki Hayashi, a famous Japanese car collector, who owns several Ferraris such as the 166MM, the 250 Spider California, two Daytonas – a coupé and a spider – and the Enzo. When Zagato received a request from Mr. Hayashi, it informed Ferrari of the project. Ferrari thought it would be a good opportunity to celebrate the 250 GTZ’s anniversary. The two companies then created a car that harked back to the 250, and built it around the Ferrari 575. Like the 250 GTZ, it sports two-tone paintwork with styling cues and volumes that recall the 1950s. The 575 GTZ also has an all-aluminium body.

I think they screwed up on matching the paint between the ****pit and the rest of the body. It looks cheap when they do that.

looks just like the db7 zagato and ar1 roadster. gg zagato…. disappear for another year and then slap this body on another long-hooded front engined car that already looked fine. how about a corvette z06 zagato or viper gts zagato or toyota supra zagato or lexus sc430 zagato or a v8 vantage zagato or mustang zagato? lecch. I hate redundancy. a db9 would have been a better starting point. Of course it looks good, it looks like every other zagato concept for the last decade. yeesh.

Of course it looks like a Zagato, it’s a Zagato! And of course you could never make a Corvette Zagato, a ( God forbid ) Viper Zagato or the likes of it, you just can’t turn a Diet Coke into champagne.

Meh. Another year, another designer, yet another car we won’t be buying. Fun to look at, but I’d say most all the car designers have at least one interesting model in concept or production.

Ive seen TONS of photoshops of Ferraris online created by amateur designers that look far better than this, which is a shame because Zagato is supposed to be a celebrity designer and this car collector dished out $3 mil on this car. If it was my money, I’d tell them to go back to the drawing board, but then again, taste isn’t something you argue.

yozzie…no ****, it was sarcasm. I just think it looks dumb with the two-tone.

This is very very ugly.

I’m not sure where exactly Ferrari is headed with their design language. To be completely honest, the last truly beautiful Ferrari was the 550/575, and possibly the 360.

The 430 is a mishmash of an already unusual look inherited from the Enzo, the 612 Scaglietti looks ungainly and odd. The 599 is ugly, and this just enhances the ugly points.

And excuse me, but isn’t that an Aston Martin DB4/DB5′esque front grille?

Somewhere along the way, Ferrari lost the touch.

This is okay but the Aston-based Zagato DBAR1 Roadster is the finest example of his theme to me…

This is a special vehicle made for a wealthy collector - Ferrari does it all the time.
It’s not a production model. whether or not it will influence the look of future Ferraris remains to be seen since it was designed in conjunction with Zagato. Ferrari has an in-house styling department these days.

Looks distinctive enough for the price tag. Better looking than the Scaglietti. But the Ferrari GG50 is still the better looking of the modern Ferrari one offs. Can’t wait for the upcoming 612 P4/P5

I like the fact that some people love it and others hate it! I kinda like it, even though I’d rather own a 250 California a 250 GTO or something like that…

By the way: These photos; have they been manipulated, are we talking computer renderings? They look a bit suspicious to me? Very slick and perfectly lighted, a bit like a Maya product.

As much as we hate it does not negate the fact that this rich A$& guy had enough dough to build this car and he is happy. Did you see his crap eatin grin? Not my favorite car either but I can imagine if I had the means to cop one.

I’d also have a bumper sticer made to say:
“I know you think my car sucks but I can buy you as a pet”
