Daimler Chrysler boss Dieter Zetsche told Germany’s Handelsblatt newspaper that his company is seriously considering bringing the Smart brand to the United States. The report, which was published today and cited by AFX News, suggested a final decision will come during the first half of 2006. “Currently it is more likely that we reach a decision in favour of the US (launch) rather than against,” Zetsche said. He said the company is “leaving no stone unturned” when it comes to making Smart profitable again. Recently, DaimlerChrysler sold the rights to the discontinued Smart roadster to British consortium Project Kimber.
