Nissan announced earlier this month that it will be entering the North American light commercial vehicle segment, and now the Japanese automaker has announced another significant part of that puzzle. ZF will produce a new six-speed automatic transmission for use in Nissan’s North American LCVs.
According to Automotive News, ZF will produce the new transmission in Gainesville, Georgia and will supply Nissan’s production facility in Canton, Mississippi. The new unit will be ZF’s first automatic transmission produced in North America.
Production of the new transmission will begin in early 2010 to coincide with the launch of Nissan’s light commercial vehicles.

For Hummer owners who wish to take their obnoxiousness to the next level, they can start driving around in LCV’s and really piss people off.

they already have International CXT’s for that. Nissans arent american so therefore nobody cares how much they harm the environment. This would be like a prius SUV to hummer owners.

It will be American workers building truck for American market. The transmission supplier is building tranny here in US. What’s so horrible? We should have those workers unemployed?

zomg that’s an ugly truck
if you must drive a cabover get an Isuzu/GMC or a International/Ford.
Besides, I thought UD was Nissan???
regardless, the BEST non-cdl truck is the International 4200/4300, it’s the Lincoln Town Car of trucks, I loved driving them, I really miss it.

olds, do you think customers who buy those trucks care much about looks? I imagine it is utility and price value at play. Those things are bought by fleets.

Of course they care about how it looks: when you’re in the delivery business the vehicle IS your image, and you want to present a good one.
