Today, Honda announced that it has already managed to record 7,000 orders for the all-new CR-Z “sport hybrid” in Japan. Honda says its annual target is just 12,000 units, and the CR-Z has accumulated nearly 60 percent of expected orders since it went on sale on February 25, 2010.

Although the tally is not quite yet official, the Department of Transportation says that for 2009 traffic-related deaths hit the lowest level since 1954, and the lowest deaths per mile since the statistic has been recorded. Staying true to Ford’s earlier promise to release details of a new purpose-built Police Interceptor in the first quarter of 2010, Ford has confirmed to Leftlane that a new Police Interceptor will be unveiled to a special group of fleet customers in Las Vegas this Friday. The unveil is not open to the public or media, and Ford stopped short of disclosing any details on the vehicle aside from its name: Police Interceptor.
While General Motors appears to be getting its act together, the automaker’s preferred lending arm – GMAC – continues to be a black hole for government bailouts. GMAC has received $17.2 billion in government funding, but has yet to develop a viable business plan for the future.
