Audi to launch TT TDI

It's no secret that clean-diesel popularity is on the rise with German automakers leading the charge. Most oil-burners find their way under the hoods of SUVs and sedans, but Audi will soon change all that. Leftlane sources have revealed that Audi is working on a diesel version of its TT sports car.

Power for the diesel TT will reportedly come from the same 2.0L TDI -- featuring common rail technology -- found in the Audi A4 and Volkswagen Tiguan. However, output will be boosted to about 200 horsepower.

No word if the diesel sports car will make the trip across the pond. Audi is expected to take the wraps off of its TT TDI in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
