Honda to launch crime-warning navigation system

Honda has announced that it will launch a new safety system in Japan that will actually warn drivers of crime hot spots. The new system -- which will launch throughout Japan on Tuesday -- will use police records in conjunction with the car's navigation system to warn drivers of dangerous areas.

According to AFP, the system will use police information to determine which areas have high levels of car theft and damage, and will warn drivers via the car's on-board navigation system.

Based on crimes reported, the system will assign varying levels of risk to different areas.

No word if Honda has plans to bring the new system to the U.S.
