2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 officially sold out

It may not come as the biggest surprise, but Dodge is officially sold out of its entire run of 2008 model year Challenger SRT8s -- 6,400 units in all. Dodge reportedly received 10,000 pre-orders for the revived 1970s muscle car legend, 4,300 of which came in the first three days the Challenger was available for pre-order.

However, if you're dying to get your hands on a 2008 Dodge Challenger, you still have some options. According to KickingTires.com, 28 of the 6,400 Challenger SRT8s are available on eBay. Interestingly enough, 24 of those 28 are being offered by a dealer.

But be prepared to pay a premium to be the first on the block to have a Challenger. While the 2008 Challenger SRT8 has an MSRP of $37,995, the 28 examples on eBay are going anywhere from the mid-$40,000s all the way up to $65,000.

If you can wait until the 2009 models roll into dealerships, you can save yourself quite a bit of coin. While the SRT8 model will still list for just under $40,000, two new models will be available -- the R/T and SE -- the latter of which will likely sticker for under $24,000.
