Jaguar to show XF Estate at Frankfurt show?

Jaguar took a bold step forward with the launch of its XF sedan, and it appears as though the legendary British marque will be taking a gamble on another XF-variant. Following in the footsteps of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar is reportedly readying an Estate version of the XF sedan.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, Jaguar will display a concept version of the XF Estate at this September's Frankfurt Motor Show. Although the XF Estate on display will technically be labeled a concept, the show car is expected to be more along the lines of a pre-production model.

In the reverse of how Jaguar rolled out its XF sedan range, look for the Estate model to be on display to wear Jaguar's R badge. That means a fire-breathing 510 horsepower supercharged V8 underhood, which should make for an interesting trip to the grocery store. However, Jaguar is also expected to offer the XF Estate with lesser V8s, as well as gas and diesel V6s.

It remains unclear if Jaguar will attempt to market the XF Estate in the U.S., but the wagon version of the XF sedan will likely hit the European market in 2010 or early 2011. If earlier reports prove to be true, coupe and convertible variants of the XF could also be on the way.
