Honda confirms CR-Z, Fit hybrid for 2010

Continuing its quest to dethrone Toyota as the global hybrid leader, Honda has officially announced the production version CR-Z hybrid will hit the Japanese market in February 2010, with the hybrid version of the Fit hatchback to debut by the end of 2010.

The production CR-Z will closely follow the styling of its concept counterpart, promising eco-conscious buyers a car that is both stylish and fun to drive. The CR-Z will use Hond's Integrated Motor Assist system - the same used in the Insight hybrid - and is tipped to produce a combined 140 horsepower.

The CR-Z is currently being design and engineered in Europe - one of the hybrid's expected largest markets - but will likely be sold as a global vehicle. The production CR-Z will reportedly make its world debut at this October's Tokyo Motor Show.

Honda also confirmed its Fit Hybrid is on tap for late 2010, but failed to give any details. However, its expected that the gas-electric Fit will roll into dealers in the fall of 2010, with an expected list price of just $15,800.
