Rumor: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 SV in the works

Originally introduced as the "affordable" Lamborghini, the Gallardo has now grown to feature several unique models in both two and four-wheel drive versions with varying power and price tags. Now rumors suggest that a high-performance version of the Gallardo is in the works, and will be unveiled to the public at the Geneva auto show.

The Gallardo currently is available in three trim levels - LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, LP 560-4 Spyder and LP 560-4. According to Lamborghini nomenclature, the "-2" refers to a rear-wheel-drive model, and the "-4" designates an all-wheel-drive model. The rumor mill over at the Team Speed forum says Lamborghini is planning on letting a special guest list of VIPs take a sneak peak of an upcoming high-performance LP 570-4 SV in January, months ahead of the public unveiling rumored to be at the Geneva auto show.

Although Lamborghini has not confirmed any details, sources close to folks within Lamborghini claim that the next Gallardo model will feature a lower curb weight due to a stripped interior - similar to the previous SL version of the Gallardo, in addition to another 10 horsepower, reworked front suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, a new front spoiler and a large rear aero-spoiler.

In addition to this hot AWD Gallardo, there is also a report of a hopped-up RWD model - the LP-590-2 which will reportedly arrive in late 2010 or early 2011.

No word on expected pricing or predicted units for either models.
