Audi expecting strong Q1 results

Volkswagen's premium Audi division has been on a sales roll as of late, and looks to continue that momentum as the first quarter nears its end. Following two strong months of sales, Audi is calling for much improved first quarter results.

Through the first two months of the year, Audi has posted an impressive 28.7 percent sales increase, totaling 153,700 units. Thanks to that wave of momentum, Audi is expecting strong first quarter numbers.

"We are on course for a strong first quarter and that is mainly thanks to our leading position in China and western Europe," Audi sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer said.

Although Chin's sales growth slowed from an 84 percent increase in January to a 45 percent increase in February, Audi's China sales were still strong enough to boost the Asian region to Audi's largest market. During the first two months China outsold Germany by 4,600 units to become the automaker's largest market.
