LA Live: Subaru Impreza Concept

Subaru's Impreza Concept has taken to the Los Angeles stage. In addition to showcasing a new design, the concept also uses a revised engine.

Subaru has taken the wraps off its new Impreza Concept at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Impreza Concept is the first vehicle to be designed under Subaru's latest "Confidence in Motion" brand strategy.

Building on Subaru's current design language, the Impreza Concept is a clear update on the current design, using "simple and clean lines and surfaces rather than complicated forms." However, the Impreza Concept manages to retain some of the current car's style in profile.

Subaru says it designed the Impeza Concept's interior around the words "Dynamic, Enticing and Secure", with crisp lines to match that of the car's exterior. The Impreza Concept utilizes a 2+2 layout complete with leather seats and contrasting blue piping.

Power for the Impreza Concept is provided by Subaru's next-generation Horizontally-Opposed Boxer four-cylinder. No power figures were given, but the four-pot displaces 2.0L. Like some of Subaru's current offerings, the new mill is backed by a CVT gearbox.

Look for the Subaru Impreza Concept to make the transition to production in the coming years.
