Born from a collaboration that began in 2008, Hyundai has taken the wraps of a limited edition Genesis Prada for the 2012 model year.

Looking to push the luxury envelope even farther, Hyundai has taken the wraps off a limited edition of its 2012 Genesis sedan. Dubbed the Genesis Prada, the sedan is the culmination of a two-year joint project between the Korean automaker and luxury goods brand.

Based on the revised 2012 Genesis sedan, the Genesis Prada will come standard with Hyundai's 5.0L Tau V8 engine. Hyundai will produce just 1,200 units of the Genesis Prada for the Korean market, with a small batch planned for export to a handful of other countries.

The Genesis Prada will be available in three exterior colors -- Black Nero, Blue Baltico and Brown Moro. Dark chrome will replace the sedan's standard trim and is intended to mimic the palladium-coated buckles on Prad's bags. Other unique features include a Prada-designed 19-inch wheels and a new wedge-shaped outer antenna.

Inside Genesis Prada buyers will be treated to Prad's signature "saffiano" leather, which covers the dash as well as the seating surface.

Each Genesis Prada will be produced by customized personal orders, with unique badging setting the car apart from lesser Genesis models. Hyundai will export a small number of Genesis Prada sedans to the Middle East and China, but there are no current plans to sell the car in the United States.
