The facelift was released in conjunction with the model's 50th anniversary.

Buried under the news of the Corolla's 50th anniversary was the reveal of a facelifted 2017 Corolla model. The refresh adds more standard safety features and some visual updates to the best-selling model in history.

The most noticeable change is in the revised grille, flanked by new headlamps. L, LE and LE Eco trim levels get bi-LED units, as well as a standard backup camera. Meanwhile, new SE, XSE, and XLE trims get complex-LED lights, a redesigned interior with audio enhancements. Two new colors, unspecified as of yet, will be added to the palette as well.

The XSE shown above has newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and newly designed taillights that are fully red.

No matter the trim, however, all 2017 Corollas well receive Toyota's Safety Sense-P suite of automatic minders. The system includes pre-collision sensing with a pedestrian detection function, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warnings with steering assist, and automatic high beams.

All of Toyota's standard Entune audio systems and optional Entune Audio Plus systems have been increased from 6.1 inches to 7 inches as well.

Toyota will continue a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary, including driving a 1970 Corolla cross-country in The Great Race.
