2019 Ford Raptor gets new shocks, Trail Controlby Drew Johnson
Ford is updating it's off-road pickup.
Ford is updating its popular F-150 Raptor off-road pickup truck for the 2019 model year. The updated Raptor features revised shocks, a new Trail Control function and newly available Recaro seats.
The 2019 Raptor will use new FOX 3.0 Internal Bypass shocks with Live Valve technology that are capable of adjusting damping in real time. Ford says the updated suspension system provides a smoother ride on-road, but also enhances the truck's high-speed off-road ability.
"Not many trucks need sensors to detect when you are midair,” said Hermann Salenbauch, global director, Ford Performance vehicle programs. "Raptor sets the dampers to full stiffness to help smooth shock performance as the truck lands.”
The 2019 Raptor should be a little easier to navigate off-road thanks to the inclusion of a new Trail Control system. Described as cruise control for off-roading, the system is capable of automatically braking and sending power to each individual wheel, helping the Raptor to crawl over almost any obstacle. The system can be activated at speeds from 1-20mph.
In order to help you stay in place out on the trail, the 2019 Raptor will offer available Recaro sport seats. Ford says the seats will sport blue Alcantara inserts inspired by the GT super car.
Three new exterior colors will also be on offer for the 2019 model year — Ford Performance Blue, Velocity Blue and Agate Black.
Ford has not announced pricing, but the 2019 F-150 Raptor will arrive in dealer showrooms later this year.
